Greetings!
I recently bought my new-to-me 2004 4runner Sport V8, and figured it was a good time I make a build thread since I've gained a ton of knowledge from other people's builds and write-ups. I bought it with 148,959 miles with a clean carfax. It was from Arizona, and has hardly any rust. The previous owners did not have a ton of maintenance records, but I researched a TON on 4th gens, and knew what to look out for. It has the JBL synthesis system, and already has 265/70r17 tires (P-rated).
I used to have a 1997 4runner V6 limited, and spent a good amount of time on here researching mods and maintenance. The step up to the 4th gen has been very nice - especially the V8. I go up to summit county in the rocky mountains regularly, and the power that this thing puts out is impressive. Mountain passes are no biggie.
I have dubbed it "Natty V8" because it is natural white and has a V8. (super-creative, I know...
)
I am trying to be responsible and keep costs reasonable for now, but hopefully I'll be able to splurge more later this year on suspension goodies and what-not. My master plan for this 4runner is to be a *****in DD and weekend off-roader. I go camping, skiing, hiking, and fishing regularly, so I want a bit more off road capability and love the mild lift look.
Here is a list of everything I've done to it so far (as of 3/11/18):
- full timing belt job (including tensioners, rollers, water pump - the whole 9 yards)
- replaced the drive belt
- replaced the radiatior
- replaced driver's side windshield fluid nozzle
- oil change
- new air filter
- complete ATF fluid exchange (not flush)
- changed front and rear diff fluids
- changed transfer case fluid
- new headlight bulbs
- daystar 1 inch budget boost front leveling kit
My near-future to-do list/wish list:
- LT 265/70r17 all terrains - debating between a few options here
- rear wiper mod to increase spring tension or replace rear wiper arm
- power steering fluid flush
- full clay bar detail
- GTA bluetooth add on for the JBL system
My later -on wish-list:
- full OME lift
- black wheels (I'm into the storm-trooper look)
- Gibson or Magnaflow full catback exhaust
I'll update this list as time goes on and with be sure to post pictures of off-roading and new mods.
Cheers

Here she is as of today - just installed the daystar lift. (please excuse the missing roof rail front fascia - it came off in a car wash today and was subsequently crushed - a new one is on the way via amazon.)
