Changing head unit to kenwood DDX372BT 6.2" screen/ do I need a harness

Hey guys, I'm new to the forum and can't find anything really specific about this. I have a 2004 4runner limited with jbl sound system. I only wanna have to tear into my dash 1 time and get this hooked up correct with all the right parts I need in front of me if possible. I bought the kenwood head unit. Now is there a special harness besides the steering wheel control? Will I need a dash kit? Or a bypass harness? Any info is appreciated.

youll need the bezel and the JBL system harness.

Depending on the 4runner you have you may need the Limited surround which is just the two end caps or the full surround.

Below is what i used for my 03 limited with JBL

Limited double din install kit.
Amazon.com : Toyota 4runner (2003-2009) Double Din Radio Installation Package. Includes the wiring and trim kit. Replaces standard 4runner radios (wont work when replacing a JBL system) : Car Electronics

JBL Harness
http://www.amazon.com/Metra-TYTO-01-...io+install+kit

Heres the standard full surround for reference.

Amazon.com : Toyota 4runner (2003-2009) Double Din Radio Installation Package. Includes the wiring, trim kit, maintains the steering wheel Controls and factory amp when replacing a JBL factory system with RDS : Car Electronics

youll need the JBL interface harness to get your set up to even work. Also youll need the bezel and the harness it comes with to hook to the JBL interface harness you are going to buy.

I just bought the identical unit for my 03 with JBL, from Crutchfield. Included a wiring harness, dash kit, and steering wheel control interface. I haven't started installation until my cheapo eBay rear camera arrives then I'll tear it all apart. Crutchfield did send an installation sheet with some wiring details. I'll attach a link to the .pdf below

No, I don't. If you are replacing the factory amp then it becomes easier I think, some good write ups on the board of similar project builds if you search around.

Whoknows- if you go to the Crutchfield website and type in your vehicle and/or the HU it will let you know what all you will need to do the install .

Check out my signature for a list of what you want. I put a Kenwood double din my my JBL system.

The only thing I might change is the steering wheel button controler. I just helped a buddy upgrade his stock stereo and we used the Axxess brand adapter instead. It automatically programmed itself which was much easier.
