Fuel Pump Relay

Looking for something better than the "Club" and a "secret switch" like I installed in my Tacoma for parking in those questionable areas. In the 2006 there is a fuel pump relay on the left side of the engine compartment with the fuses. It pulls out easily, plugs back in easily. I did not start the engine with it removed, but got no CEL etc. when reinstalled. Would removal of this relay stop fuel pumping rendering the 4Runner unable to start? Then, upon reinstallation, would the computer throw a CEL (check engine light) and be screwed up? I could walk away with the relay in my pocket and doubt anyone would have one in theirs.

Thanks Derek for last posted question, perfect answer!

It will start but you won't get more than a mile. There's still fuel in the lines that the injectors can push through. but once that residual pressure is gone, they stop pumping.

The problem with strategies like that (if they work) is that some crook will likely still trash your car breaking in and trying to start it (as I once discovered... I'd rather have my car stolen and totaled than simply vandalized). Then when they can't start it they'll trash it some more.

I still think it's better to have a visual deterrent or something that indicates you have an anti-theft device. However, I agree clubs are useless. I saw a video once of someone disabling a club in about 10 seconds. If not for all the steering controls I'd suggest rigging up a system to remove the steering wheel altogether. That would work
