Brakes you currently use
Peeps,
My brother who also owns a Runner! 2004 Silver Sport... Needs rear brakes and I am wondering what brakes everybody is currently using. That being duralast, toyota brand etc..
My brother and I are thinking going with duralast gold pads and brakes, he also wore down his brakes so bad that the PAD fell off and had rotor to caliper action. He is new to this whole car thing and is a little irresponsible, needless to say I had a chat with him about car safety and common sense.
I'll post pictures when I can tomorrow.
Thanks!

Napa premiums are running great on mine. Not too pricey.

I'm happily running with the Hawk LT,s. Great stopping power going from a stock tire size to nearly a 34.

Stoptech slotted rotors and hawk lots pads, working great . I have close to 95 pounds at each corner with the tire and rim combo. 22 inch rims and 32 inch tires.

i really like the akebono ceramic pads and beck/arnley rotors. I got it from rockauto.com and so far, there are no issues.

I am not sure who manufactures the OEM pad, but I actually had great luck with the OEM pads on the 4Runner. I bought those as replacements.

Brakes you currently use
Took around 5 hours to change out and bleed the brakes.
The brakes got so bad that the fluid drained out completely. If that ever happens you'll know because your dash board is chiming and lite up like a Christmas tree.
Worked on one side went to bleed and the other just drained out everything, changed the other side then couldn't get them to bleed. Took like an hour.
But eventually got them fixed. Christmas lights went away as well as the warning chime.
Now the parking brake is messed up gotta change the setting. But that's for tomorrow.
This is my brothers car and as I stated. I yelled at for this because of how bad he let this go.
We're going to do his front probably next weekend or some what soon. Just to do them so they are all even in regards to wear.
