The smart thing to do is buy a set and have them ready to go. Take down your suspension and inspect the OEM ones - if they're in bad shape, you have the replacements right there. If the OEM ones are good, return the new ones you bought. You don't want to be in the middle of the job and having to run all over town trying to find a set of strut mounts on a Saturday afternoon.

I purchased new Toyota Oem mounts when I replaced my shocks. The rubber cushion underneath the mounts were pretty compressed after 100,000 miles. I could have used the old ones but feel better having a brand new cushion in there. I tried buying just the rubber cushion but could not find any for sale.

If I were on a tight budget I would have just used my old ones!
