Icon Stage 1 Installed - Concerned about clearance w/ stock UCA's

I just had the Icon Stage 1 kit installed on my 06 Runner. I have not yet installed larger tires as I'm trying to decide on what size to run and if I want to do any trimming.

My truck has stock 16" wheels. It really looks like any larger tires are going to rub on the stock upper control arms. I was not planning on installing spacers or buying different wheels, but now I'm worried as the stock UCA's stick out extremely close to wear the tire will sit.

I've been reading through all the threads and posts and have not seen this mentioned as an issue. Does anyone have any feedback? The Icon kit raised the front 3", assuming it would be same issue with any other type of front coil over.

Been driving the 4runner around for 2 days now with the new lift. I'm happy with it, but really hoping for some feedback on this.

Right now looks like my options are wheel spacers of aftermarket wheels.

I don't think I can fit any larger tires on without rubbing.

I don't have an answer for you. But I think I would spend the money on aftermarket wheels before a new uca. I love these. but have no idea about backspacing. FWIW I am biding my time for the air system to go out in the GX470 so I can replace with an ICON stage 1.

You didn't mention anything about an alignment. Have you done that yet? My understanding is that once you get into 3" lift territory, UCA's are needed to get the proper alignment. If that is indeed the case, I'd get the UCA's first as that would solve the alignment issue and the rubbing issues you will experience when you get bigger tires.

Yes, I had alignment done after the lift was installed.

I knew anything over 3" would require UCA's. That's why I wasn't gonna go over that. But now I don't think I can install bigger tires w/o either spacers or aftermarket wheels - something I wasn't planning on doing.

^^Once you start modding it will never end...to feel confident on your look or mods, be sure to purchase and install all items that revolve around the lift...bigger tires will need trimming and UCAs are VERY important to maintain proper, comfortable alignment of all your running gear. One never wants to stay at the upper limits of what the original factor-of-safety is meant for...hobbies are expensive when you do them right...even more so when you don't do them right!

I have a different lift than you. I am running the Toytec Ultimate lift and I went ahead and got the Light Racing Uca's and I am running 275/70/18's and haven't had any rubbing between the tires and Uca's. Not sure if this helps at all, but I thought I would share. I would get save for some better UCA's if I was you. As far as the wheels verses spacer thing I you can get new wheels then go ahead and get the ones you want, but if you can't then just get a set of wheels spacers
