I think roughly $380. Bought x2 for my brother's FJ at the same time and saved a little bit. I updated the original post with the square footage I used.

They are fancy body mount chop plates from relentless fab. They were different than the usual route and not very expensive or else I would have just fabricated my own when the time came to chop.

Not a 4Runner update but...

My grandpa has a 1979 Corvette he bought from a relative and is looking to sell soon. I couldn't pass up the opportunity to polish it for him. After all the parents/ grandparents stopped trying to tell me how to polish it so I wouldn't ruin its original paint, I got to work. Roughly 7hrs of labor later, it turned out great! The paint was clean to begin with and I didn't have a whole lot of time, so I skipped the clay bar and started with Chemical Guy's V36 and finished it with V38.

Specs: 1979 Corvette w/L82 Performance Package with either 32,000 or 132,000 miles. Assorted Van Halen and Billy Idol cassete tapes still inside.

Before:

After:

Its far from "show car" material, as it still requires a lot more work then I am able to give it, but it was a lot of fun to work on and it should help the resell value. But best of all, I'm contracted to do my grandpa's old Mercedes and possibly his Lexus next!!

As for my 4Runner, I got a CB for Christmas so I'm working on a stealth mount inside that will hopefully work.

Interesting things you've got going on. Think I'm going to follow this thread as I can't wait for you to move on to your wheels soon😏

Unfortunately, I need other things before the wheels But they are very tempting!!

I just had to post another pic of my CB install progress. I took the faceplate off the CB and mounted it to the center cubby drawer. It would be easy to remote mount the faceplate of the Uniden Bearcat 880 by simply extending a couple of wires, except for 1 ribbon wire (Flexible Flat Cable, FFC) for the LCD display. The longest ribbon wire I could buy online was 7 inches, so I'll need to mount the rest of the CB box nearby. Directly behind the drawer should work... Hopefully by next week it will be ready for an antenna and power wires!

The only 3 connectors between the front board and the main board:

Faceplate Installed:

I spontaneously cut off my resonator today. Dang! Its way louder now! Hopefully not like one of those poser straight-piped trucks though... It almost sounded like my rear hatch was cracked open.

Ebay grille snagged for $43:
(Original Color: Pacific Blue)

The beginning of my satoshi:

Its going to take lots of bondo, fiberglass, and time...

I also bought @GX4SEVEND 's
  • Icon 2.5" Resi's
  • Icon 2.5" + CDC Coilovers
Hopefully I can install them next weekend along with the UCA's that have been collecting dust

Thanks! It has taken forever. I still need to finish up the cubby's mount as it isn't sitting flush right now and route the cb cable to the hatch. I barely had room to cram the dremeled cb box behind that panel. Plus the knobs stick out far enough some tall cups in the cupholder don't sit flat. I may have to lower the cupholder's base... If I had to do it over again, I might have just stuck the whole thing in the center console!

Modified/Chopped CB Box:

Installed with my wire extensions:

The process: Cut, try to force fit, cut some more, shove it in there, cut even more, repeat. Trying to get the silver trim panel snapped completely in was the worst.

I should rename my build; "I apparently have too much free time build"

This is the result of a lot of patience and luck;
