I never considered it because I wanted a full differential unit. I only considered detroit truetrac or yukon grizzly. I wanted a full locker for rocks & my installer recommended to try Grizzly & ended up being cheaper than truetrac.
ARB was too much $$ for me & didnt wanna fuss around airlines & switches (Ive got too many already)

For me with my elocker retro fit on a 12voltguy switch atrac still works. all the ecu sees is that the rear is turning at the same speed so no problem. i dont see why it would be any different for him. now with having the rear locked atrac doesnt actuate the rear, but it doesnt need to since the desired effect is achieved, the front is the only end still being actuated by atrac.

Ok great thanks for the feedback. Good to know, because i am in the same boat i want lockers but the ARB is such chunk to throw down and its the only option for the front as well if you plan to lock that also. But i think the combination of having the rear locker engaged and the atrac still working the front is a great combo! I love my atrac it's gotten me thru stuff i would have never imagined getting thru!

Yup. it just engages the front. VSC still cuts out if it gets too sideways and stuff. I dont plan on getting a front locker. Its gotten me so far with just Atrac. I think it should be enough with just the rears.

Nice, I'm also going to rear gear at the same time when i do a locker or lockers, which should make a nice difference as well!

Did you get yours installed yet? Curious to hear your feedback since we have have the same application with the V6 and not full time 4wd ? Or wouldn't it make a difference between the full time 4wd like @RaceTRaCk vs ours V6 part time?

Just let me say one thing ...DO IT!!!
Yeah I installed it Wednesday evening on Nov.17th I started at 6pm and finished completely at 1am. At 5am got up drove my chick to work in it as I pulled out of the garage I was nervous with every thought going through my mind and hoping I did it right.
Well let me just say since that moment I havent had one issue what so ever and the Spartan Locker handles like a dream. Ive still not heard this BANG sound and can barely hear the clicking when turning. After all the horror stories I read about all the crazy sounds and lockers annoying characteristics I was positive that soon down the road I was gonna be ripping the locker out, well I only see that happening the day Im replacing it with a new one.

So I drove her to work then myself to work and both of us back home in it totaling 30 miles or so, and pparked it back in the garage and loaded her down for our 3 day Death Valley Run starting the next morning on Fri Nov 19 drove 300 miles to DV then another 50 miles to 1st destination of the trip Goler Wash (most difficult trail in DV) at this moment, proper break in period on the new Spartan Locker? probably not recommended but This is what I came for and why I installed it so lets see what it's limits are!!!
Still to this day I haven't found that yet...she just hammers right on through I had a perma grin and full wood the entire trip.
For all the people who said dont do it, you'll waste your money, get an e-locker hold out, its not gonna handle right....ALL WRONG.
Even my chick loves it and doesn't even realize it's there and this being her DD for everything...what more can I say.
I hope this helps anyone trying to decide or looking for positive info.
Also Thank you goes out to @Kidvicious for giving it to me straight and his 1st hand experience it was everything I wanted/needed to hear ....and telling me to do it!!

Hey now - those guys who said don't do it, they weren't wrong. Not for them. Different folks have different tolerances for different things. Glad to hear yours is working out for you. I think for guys with mild builds on a budget, a lunchbox locker can be a great option. It's a definite performance boost on the trail, and the price of admission is low so if it doesn't work out for whatever reason, it's easy to go back to stock.

Awesome news, thanks for the feed back! All positive stuff,I think this is the way i'll be going. As much as I (we) all want selectable lockers like a ARB there just to damn expensive! Especially when there's still so much i want to do the my build haha This seems like a great alternative especially for the bang for your buck. Then maybe someday in the future if need be i guess the options there to add a carb to the front. I also want to re gear to 4.56s so i figure when i do this it will be as good a time as any.
On road manners were always my biggest concern as this is still my DD to and send a lot of time on the highway etc but it sounds like their fine and work with out issue. Honestly if it clicks here and there it's not going to be anything new haha as i think we can all agree especially those of us who wheel our trucks clicks, squeaks and creaks are nothing new for us during everyday driving lol

So yours is a Spartan vs the OP's Yukon Grizzly. Any reason you chose this one over the other? I see the price is a little better. Are there any significant differences between the two or the way they operate? Sorry for all the questions. I do insane amounts of research before i do any new mod but i always love to hear first hand experience from people using or running products!

The Grizzly and Detroit lockers are full carrier automatic lockers. This means they replace the carrier in the differential. It makes them stronger, it also means that to install one you have to have the skills/tools to set up a ring and pinion. The Spartan and Aussie and Lockrite are "lunchbox" automatic lockers. They work on a different principle and don't require replacing the entire carrier, so a novice can install one in the driveway in a couple hours with no special knowledge. They're also weaker than a full carrier locker, not recommended if you have a heavy foot or bigger than 33" tires.

They work by different principles inside the diff, but the effect is the same - locked when they "sense" a certain amount of torque input, open when they don't.

Well @KidVermicious pretty much summed it up, I wasn't in any position to get a project like that done financially and nor had the time. I had my front end completely torn apart rebuilding it and the rear end torn apart to install the locker and of course while I'm in there might as well replace the seals and o-rings inspecdt the axles etc.
I just knew it wasn't gonna be feasible with all the projects I wanted to get done and it was gonna be my first time opening up a rear end on a vehicle so this would allow me to take a baby step and learn hands on to get a complte understanding of how all the components work and what it really takes to get future projects like this done now that I have broken the ice with my fear of dismantling my rear end, sounds so wrong I know.

After all my research and searching I almost got the LockRite Locker which is made by Aussie Lockers which they renamed and revamped their locker after getting a bad wrap here in the U.S. back in the day but the neg reviews out weighed pos barely I think only because of the past product still haunts them.
The Powertrac Locker faired slightly less compared to the LockRite.
The Detroit is the Detroit not much has changed, the Grizzly and the Aussie seem to be better options with less noice and stronger steal pin.
As for the Spartan what lil info is out there and lil known about it the pos weighed out the neg also being made by Yukon a company known for making good products that stand behind them and there warranties put me at ease. But what sealed the deal was KidVermicious giving it to me straight with his hands on experience of owning/installing the Spartan and from a couple vids i seen it seemed to do what it was supposed to do with only having to install a couple compenants, remove a couple thrust washers and correctly slap it all back together and add fluid.
Purchased it from CompleteOffRoad.com through Ebay since it was cheaper than there website priced at 249-269 it varied if they were having a sale or 10% off.
But through there Ebay store it was only (see below)....go figure as it made my decision simple and they said they would have it to me the date I needed and nobody else would guarantee me that. they also gave me a 25% off voucher for a 1 time any item they sell ....I see my gears coming now.

Yukon Grizzly locker-image-jpg

Good Luck
hope this helps

Purchased it from CompleteOffRoad.com through Ebay since it was cheaper than there website priced at 249-269 it varied if they were having a sale or 10% off.
But through there Ebay store it was only (see below)....go figure as it made my decision simple and they said they would have it to me the date I needed and nobody else would guarantee me that. they also gave me a 25% off voucher for a 1 time any item they sell ....I see my gears coming now.

Good Luck
hope this helps[/QUOTE]

Yes this helps tremendously thanks! I really only every researched and planned on a selectable locker i.e. ARB but the more my build keeps growing along with other thing ( Expo trailer) etc I just can't justify $2K on lockers! At least right now maybe down the road who knows? I never really looked into these as a alternative and just really new the basics so this is all new knowledge.I will probably end up doing this with my buddy who is a mechanic but i always love to wrench my own stuff and learn in the process! I'm going to shop around and see if maybe i can come across a good deal over this weekend or possibly cyber Monday . Thanks again appreciate it Oh and Happy Thanksgiving Everyone

Hey do you know what the model number is for the grizzly locker? I'd love to do this and if it's only like $500 then it's a no brainer.
