Holy christ, stuck eyelet rear lower shock mount!

Pulled the XREAS and am installing FJ springs and Bilsteins.

Sawzalled the top two bolts off of both of the rear XREAS shocks and this happened. Man, rusty stuck bolts are always an issue with Yotas, but dayum!

I Sawzalled, drilled, and twisted the rear shock down to just the sleeve on the lower stud. It is rusted/welded/stuck.

I got it down to this point, and am dremeling through the steel sleeve.

I'm done for the night (worn slap out), and am going to soak it in PB Blaster.

What else could I do? Any tricks?

Mine was stuck fairly bad, but not nearly this bad.

I ended up sanding it down to where I could use vise grips on it and break it loose with by tapping on the grips with a hammer. ~30 minute job turned into ~4 hours. I've heard heating it can help if you have a torch.

I probably fought this joker for 3 hours, after fighting the top bolt for a while too.

Put some heat on it, and use a chisel in the cut you have and open it up a little.

Did both.

Why I'm so worn out. Thanks for the suggestions.

A cold chisel? That is what I used.

Will keep going tomorrow.

Ouch.... Well if it was my problem I had to deal with at that point.

I would put it up on a jack stand to give me some room and would be working it with a grinder gently. Shaping it to the size as close to stock as possible.
If it was still to much rust at that size, take some more off to clean metal, find a spacer/pipe a little shorter in length and diameter of factory and weld it on front and back.

Or 2nd choice, find another shock housing and replace with your, obviously cutting and welding come to play also.

Old thread but I found this thread and forum while trying to figure out how to solve the same dilemma as the OP.
Thought I would post my solution in case anyone else needs some ideas in the future for the same problem.

03 Limited, 4wd, 4.7L.
183k miles, was a PA car for most of its life. I bought it in OH at around 120k, now in Raleigh NC.

Rear shock mount sleeves on both sides were rusted/seized to the mount.
Tried to pry and beat them off, no luck.
Used a jaw puller to pull them off, but just tore the rubber bushing off and left the sleeve still seized to the mount.

Tried for quite a while to beat it, rotary hammer drill w/chisel to the tiny crevice at the back of the sleeve, Kroil, heat, more beating, jammed an impact socket on it (didn’t have an extractor socket that big) and hit it with an impact gun hoping it would break loose.
Would budge a bit.

Finally broke out the grinder.
Started at the top and started slowly shaving it off. Didn’t cut straight in as I didn’t want to cut into mount.
Once you have ground through the sleeve you can see a line differentiating the metal sleeve from the mount.
You can use the line as a guide as you work your way around shaving/grinding the metal sleeve and not shaving off the mount.
Shaved down on both sides from the top until most of the top half of the sleeve was gone.
At that point I was able to tap the edge of the remaining bottom half of the sleeve and it fell off.
Probably took me around 15 minutes of grinding to get it free.

Hit it real good with a wire brush on a drill to ensure all rust was removed and slathered the mount and inner sleeve of the new shock (and of course the bolt, but it didn’t give me any issues) in anti-seize before installing.

I just cut mine off. Then welded a Jeep lower shock mount to the axle kick out where the old shaft used to exist.

Has worked great for quite some time and offers more protection I suppose.
