How much is that one? Rest of it looks decent, I would buy it if cheap enough and patch it.

If I remember right he was asking about $9.5K for it but it has been sold already.

He has two more in the inventory but they are nowhere as clean as that one and don't have a clean Carfax report.

Hi again guys,

tomorrow I'm going to take a look at potentially buying a salsa red v8 sport. I only have these three frame pics and wanted to see if the rust you see is anything to be concerned about.

The car spent majority of it's life in TN, TX, NC, and OK before moving to Indiana and spending about a year there.

I know from all the 4Runner's I've looked at so far that the main spot to look at is the inner side of the passenger frame near the exhaust tubes.

Looking at these three pictures, does the surface rust you see anything to worry about or is that repairable?

Thank you.

I would say you need more pictures to get other angles and sides. From your photos it looks solid compared to other trucks I looked at.

Looks fine, but as always, check if it has been treated/painted, and if so, check how well it was done. Also, is the vin sticker supposed to be upside down?

Just took a few pictures of my 08 4Runner frame, looks like washing your frame during road salting is a good idea.

Frame rust on my 05 V8 limited

Hey folks,

I got a used 05 V8 limited with 97K on it for pretty cheap. The mechanic didn't discover anything with the engine but he did discover there is a significant amount of rust on the frame.

I feel really stupid for buying it without deep inspection or looking under the car.

The car is from east coast and I live in the Bay area. The mechanic said that I can still drive for a long time before the frame is done. But I can't do any modification on it as it's going to put stress on the chassis.

The frame swap is around 8400 and if I get a used frame I can cut 4000 out of the cost.

Is it worth it swapping the frame? And will I be able to resell the car?

Pictures would be helpful. Your mechanics idea of rust may be nothing compared to out here in the Northeast.

Only from the 2 photos you show it looks fine, only surface rust....but there are other areas that rust more than the areas you have shown, look at the frame on the passenger's side close to the firewall that is where the AC drain drips down on the frame, also the radiator support in the front but it can be replaced if needed and the main frame rails in that area are OK.
