Daystar 1" Leveling Kit - Old Design vs New Design??

Hi guys,

I'm interested in picking up the Daystar 1" Leveling Kit for my 2006 4Runner V6. Forum members have reported that this raises the front of their car by about 2".

Now, I was about to order this kit on Amazon: KT09117BK

However, I read that there is an old design version and a new design version. Can anyone shed any light on what may be different between the two?

I'd like to be sure I get the correct on if I order on Amazon.

Thanks,

Luke

Thanks Brian, but what's different about the two designs?

Why was there a design change maybe I should ask.

I have the new design. The old design requires you to disassemble the strut assembly. New style uses studs that thread onto old studs. Much easier install. Just remove the strut assembly enough to slide new extended studs on and slip spacer in. 20 minutes a side.

Thanks for the reply.

Since the part number is the same, how do I know I'm buying the new design and not some some Amazon retailer that's got some stock of old design's remaining?

Also, does this front end lift kit change the alignment specs? I haven't looked at the 4th Gen suspension geometry to confirm this yet.

Thanks guys!

New design:

Old design:

@MrRoo is correct. The new design allows it to be easily installed onto the top of the stock strut assembly.

Anytime you mess with the suspension where angles/height change, it is generally highly recommended that you have an alignment. That said I personally did not get one and had no issues. But I also only ran my daystar spacer for 2 months tops as I went full OME suspension shortly after.

Beater, that's very helpful. Thank you for sharing the pics.

Also, does anyone have the front install procedure for a 2WD? Do you have to break any control arm connections?

Thanks,

Luke

This is the easiest method I've found.
