I went with an Alpine ILX-207 from Crutchfield. I wanted CarPlay, a backup camera and to be able to use my steering wheel controls again. It does what I need it to do now.

Well if you are replacing the head unit you may be loosing some of the amplification the stock head unit provides. Depending on the new head unit/deck it may provide an audio benefit, depends if its amplified.
Swapping head units is not a simple as that. You may have to run a DSP, replace the amps....

Seems pretty straight forward, I'll return once finished.
Edit: I bought everything from Crutchfield and purchased the HRN-RR-T01 Harness and the Maestro RR to retain all OEM functionality.

How did this turn out? Is Maestro the key to retaining all factory stuff? I have a 2007 with nav/JBL and want to keep everything functional as it is now, just add Apple CarPlay. Even the factory JBL speakers/sub sound good enough to me

Everything worked as it should based on the instructions from crutchfield. They refunded the additional piece that was not needed (believe the 24 gauge cord). Super simple, 1st time soldering and turned out beautiful!!
The only issue I still have is the microphone for the new deck doesnt work with the OEM install microphone so you may have the same issue. I just choose not to install the mic so its ultimately on myself. Cheers!

How does the sound compare to stock? I personally like how my Nav/JBL sounds lol, just wish I had CarPlay functionality.

Just spent all day today wiring in a Pioneer DMH-1500NEX. Seemed to be the only reasonably priced one available online. Picked up the full Maestro kit from Crutchfield as well. Overall not a bad experience other than me being colorblind lol. Lots of learning about what wires matter and which don't, where to plug things in, how to program the Maestro etc. Overall happy with the interface with the steering wheel controls and the factory JBL speakers/amp/sub. Sounds better than stock too, lots of tune-ability.

Sony avx3000 installed on the factory jbl system. Everything is working great except steering wheel Controls, I'll be getting the SWI module soon. Also added backup camera.

Recently installed a Kenwood DMX 10.1. Had some nice surprises like tire pressure and tire temp as well as some extra gauges. It even reads off codes and can reset them.

Here's mine with a Pioneer installed. Have the maestro wiring harness so it maintained the steering wheel controls. USB plug in put into one of the open slots by the center console.

Installed a Pioneer DMH-1770NEX this weekend. Actually installed it 3 times because I'm bad with directions (forgot to attach the mic first time, plugged backup camera into wrong input second time).
The unit was cheap ($300 at Best Buy on sale), has capacitive touch screen, android auto and input for the backup camera. Looks good, works good but sound is just ok - I'm using the factory speakers and the old factory headunit (non-JBL) sounded richer. I don't know if I wired something up incorrectly (all speakers work and sound similar, and the color coding was easy to follow) or if the factory unit was designed to work better with the factory speakers and I just need to adjust the equalizer more and/or replace the speakers.
I appreciate all the "how to's" on this forum as it made the radio and backup cam install (along with everything else I've done) easy!
