What did it take to make it work? It looks great!

This is pretty much what I went off of The Ultimate Scion Head Unit (T10015): 4th Gen Toyota 4Runner - The Track Ahead

The only thing that I did not use was the microphone kit. That cost an extra $60.00. I personally don't like the sound when I'm on the phone with someone who uses a car microphone. I do plan on doing the back up camera though.

Total cost after it was all done was $220.00 I got the wiring harness from my Toyota dealer for $100. Head unit was $100. Amazon 2 to 1 antenna and antenna adapter was $20.00 There is a few write ups on here as well. It is plug and play. I didn't have to splice anything.

I've seen a few people mention finding adaptors much cheaper than crutchfield, any recommendations in Canada? To keep my factory JBL and steering wheel controls is like $200 CAD on there, I called a local audio shop and they were even worse. Want to change out the unit for something with bluetooth and a back up cam on my 2003

is there a good recommendation for a 2007 4runner JBL Nav Radio?

i play my music from usb, so a usb extention...

dont give a shit about a cd player...

something that works with the factory backup camera?

something that works with the factory nav?

is there an adapter needed for the JBL stuff?

keep the steering wheel controls

should i stay with other toyota/lexus jbl radios or it doesnt matter?

thanks

I'm in the same situation as you with on this. Have the same setup so I am too looking to see what would work.

Does anyone know if the Scion T10017 would suffice for a 2007 JBL Nav replacement?

That looks sweet. Did you have the JBL system? And if so, were you able to retain the factory amp/sub?

Original radio that I ordered from Crutchfield (Dual something or other) had an internal ground loop issue, constant hissing in the speakers... RMA'd it and dropped another 150 to get this instead and I'm very happy. Simple install. Also set up the wiring to the back of the unit ahead of time for the backup camera install when I get around to that. That one is a bit more involved.

I am currently working on installing Pioneer MVH-1400NEX on my 2008. I have the factory JB and all associated steering wheel buttons and components. Just did a preliminary wire setup and am a little confused (don't have the center console apart yet so not sure which 24 Pin to use)

Seems pretty straight forward, I'll return once finished.

Edit: I bought everything from Crutchfield and purchased the HRN-RR-T01 Harness and the Maestro RR to retain all OEM functionality.

Exclamation

Guese who's back? I've been busy. No more 5th generation. These are old pictures. I installed the Alpine touch screen on my 2003, also bought a 2008. Pictures to follow on another post. 😎✌🏾

I am planning the same as well. Can you confirm your bluetooth streaming worked without adding the microphone?

What up good people? I’m new to all this so please forgive my ignorance and appreciate any feedback/info you all have. Just got my first 4Runner the other day (05 Limited V8).

1. Everything is currently stock (JBL setup) and working as expected. Looking to upgrade the head unit to have a touchscreen, apple carplay, and a backup camera. Those are my must haves. Suggestions?

2. Curious to how much this all may run too? I will be paying to install. My gut was saying 300-500?

3. After some reading on here I see that some offer the cars data (tire PSI, temps, etc) which is cool and would include those if possible. Feel free to enlighten me on the benefits of any other headunits or features I’m not aware of.

Thanks folks and looking forward to being a learner from you all!

Love how it looks! I reached out to joying but they tell me the 10.1 unit won't fit in my 2003 4runner and are recommending that I go with their 8inch model instead. How were you able to attach the 10.1 screen?
