2.2m Eezi-Awn K9 Expedition Roof Rack
Just installed my full length 2.2m Eezi-Awn K-9 Expedition Roof Rack.
I purchased it from Paul May over at Equipt | Roof Top Tents, Expedition Roof Racks, Dual Battery Systems, Portable Fridges
I sold my Gobi and I was looking for a completely flat rack so I can mount up a roof top tent easier. It is full aluminum so you do not need to worry about any rusting. It is low profile which is a big plus for reducing wind noise.
The install was a little more troublesome than I wanted. This was due to the rails being to short where the original holes where drilled. I had to drill new mounting holes into the rail to move the rack 5 inches forward so the 5th leg can attach to it.
Now I am 100% happy with the new K9 rack. Paul May over at equipt1 has excellent customer service and works with you with whatever issue you may have.
Another benefit is with this rack if you purchase say a 5th gen 4runner, GX 460 years later, you can transfer this rack onto your new vehicle. The only item you might have to purchase is the rails.
I highly recommend this rack. I have never seen a 2.2m K9 rack installed on a 4th gen before.

So am I seeing this right. 2 rails that bolt to the OE roof rack mounting holes and the rack mounts to them?

Yes. You install the long rails first into the original vehicles mounting location.
Once that is done you attach the rack to those two rails. There are 5 feet on each side that hold the rack in place.

Not sure. This rack is made for a roof top tent so I have no worries it holding 2-3 people in a tent up.

Post a pic when you get it all loaded up. That rack looks like you could strap another 4Runner on top of your 4Runner. HUGE...

Even though it's aluminum, it being supported at even 5 point spots just increases it's strength/weight capabilities.
I built my rack with a standard thickness gauge like other models on the market, and only having 2 mounting points. It can handle a lot of weight, but, does flex the l<->l in between. The cross support bars have a permanent bow to them also.
Yours is a more evenly distributed weight barring rack for a roof top tent design.
Great design and distribution rack for it's purpose, I like it!
Nice looking ride there also...

Any 5th gen 4Runner owners with a 2.2 Meter K9 Roof Rack? I'm curious how well that length will work with a light bar up front, lights attached to rear, ability to clear the shark fin antenna on the rear roof while not interfering with the rear hatch when fully open.

Have you thought about installing Gobi or Baja ladder?
