mizak82 build thread

Hi guys, I am now in the club.. I got my hands on a silver 2007 4runner sport 4x4 with 79k miles..

My goal at the moment is to get the maintenance up to date.. fully detail the car.. and then do some tasteful mods.. We will see over time where it leads..

I have already gotten a few things taken care of since purchasing the vehicle two days ago..

I took a trip to the toyota dealership for some parts (floor mats, cargo mat, oil filter, rear wiper, lift gate button, all the bolts to do the tc/dif flushes, cabin filter)..

I went to Advance auto for some parts (iridium spark plugs, mobil1 synthetic gear oil and grease, MAF cleaner, I know K&N filter, wiper blades)..

I ordered 1.5 inch Allpro spacers.. The current stance is killing me..

I debadged it and Immediately set an appointment up for tint.. Since the factory tinted glass is 30%.. I had 50% film put on the back windows making it 15% all the way around.. Looks lighter because the windows are so damn big!

will post pics tomorrow..

Sorry guys, its been a busy few weeks.. But I have gotten a good amount of work done on the vehicle so far..

Exterior:

-Debadged : (just looks so much cleaner and easier to wax).. I used dental floss, goo gone, rubbing compound.. and it is came out perfect..

- Tint : ended up being 15% all around, (50% on back, 15% on the front two windows.. Very happy.. big windows = more light, so Im glad I went 5% darker than planned..

- new stock fog lights, one bulb blew and torched the chrome housing.. added hyper blue bulbs..

-replaced rear hatch switch, turned to mush

- washed, clay barred, and waxed the exterior

Engine:

- cleaned the engine bay
- switched to mobile 1 synthetic, oem filter
- new Denso power iridium spark plugs
- removed the secondary air filter and added a K&N filter
- cleaned MAF
- ran a fuel system cleaner

Interior :

- full interior detail (shampoo, simple green, armor all)
- removed a best buy sirrius radio install (a nightmare)
- removed center console and all plastics to hand clean
- added the upgraded cigarette lighter phone charger 12 volt
- changed cabin filter
- new cargo and floor mats (got carpet, now wishing i got the rubber oem ones)

Drivetrain

-changed the transfer case and differentials to mobile 1 synthetic 75/90

Remaining

- 1.5 inch spacers (when i do that i am spraying my rotors and calipers)
- just ordered 14 quarts of WS transmission fluid..
- ordered rust converter from vht to do some touch up on the frame, it really isn't rusted being a florida car, but just want to clean it up a bit..
- eventually spray the wheels gunmetal ( i was going to get the 2015 trail wheels but i just don't love them on a grey 4th gen, but the sport rims are growing on me.. )
- greasing the zerks

What's wrong with that? I got a really good deal on my '04 from the dealer I purchased from (ironically I actually went to a different Toyota dealer than the one I work for at the moment because Autonation's used car experience and pricing were severely lacking...)

But I got my '04 for a good price, had them drop $1700 off the sticker and let them convince me to get a Zero Deductible Extended Warranty that paid for itself 3 times over.

Not all dealerships are bad, just probably most.

Hey man, knock this installer not the company.

When I worked for a Best Buy here on the east cost me and my coworker had a combined 18 years of experience in car audio and fabrication. We had some fly installs role out of that bay.

I do concede that Best Buy does hire some retards as installers though.

What's the part number and price on the rear hatch button you replaced. I have an 08 that has also turned to mush and needs replacing. Thanks

I feel you on that Sirius removal. The only way I figured out what was what was by finding different non OEM looking connectors and non oem electrical tape. Real PITA.

I had a buddy in college who worked there and he was a genius..

but i think they hired a high school kid.. From the screw driver marks on the dash from prying the front plastic piece to get to the headunit, to the 4 phone chargers he used as I'm assuming relays, i have no idea.. how you can put 4 phone chargers behind someones dash and then charge them for your work is beyond me..
