Upper radiator hose pressure

On a cold engine, when not running should there be any pressure in the upper radiator hose? Should I be able to squeeze it closed or not?

Residual pressure can be one of the symptoms of a bad HG. It should be easy to squeeze on a cold engine, assuming there is no internal spring or something of that nature.
