That button does not disengage wheels AFAIK, at least it isn't supposed to.

I can attest to LTDSC's write up that his one wire hook-up between the factory modded button to the 4x4 computer works great! Muuuuch more simple than most are thinking...I'm glad I have this function now!

Learned something new - Thanks for the info! I was going off the icon on the button and assuming, but this thread made me break out the owner's manual and learn a thing or two

@03BlueRunner you're not the first person to mistake the meaning of that icon, it is only easily and correctly interpreted by those who are familiar with the mechanics and drivetrains of 4wd systems.

The x in the pic is to signify that the function of the center differential has effectively been removed.

Where is the write up for the mod using the factory switch?

I did the mod by cutting the wire and adding a switch but I'd like it better if I could keep Atrac on the whole time. I've also noticed a decrease in power with my current mod.

I did this same mod, using OEM Trac Off button and wiring to the 4x4 module. I only have the VSC off light as well. Also it doesnt have an issue if i forget to unclick the button at turn off.
Do you have a write up and photos or anything you could send me? I'm looking to do this but I honestly haven't ever messed with electrical. I have been a motor guy always

Alright, sorry to resurrect this thread, but had a question. Wanted to do this with either the factory switch or just a toggle to ground, but you mention make sure to put it back to normal before turning off the truck... what happens if you don't? And is this something that you can toggle pretty much any time; ie press button/VSC off, press button again/VSC on? Just don't want one that you have to turn the car off and on, etc

Thank you for your contributions to the forum though! Lot's of good information!
