5th gen front springs on a 4th gen = 1" lift
Don't know that I've seen anyone else do this (maybe I just haven't seen it yet), so thought I'd share...
Currently my front setup is a pair of 5100s set at 2.5" of lift and stock springs... this left the front a little lower than the rear and it was driving me nuts... So, over the weekend I took the time to swap in some different front coils in hopes of obtaining a little more lift up front to level it out! I hate rake! So, I grabbed a pair of STOCK 5th gen SR5 coils from
@ KCcarguy
and slapped them on... luckily they worked and netted me right at 1" of lift! Also, oddly enough, I swear the ride is even smoother than before! It drives GREAT!
Sitting nice and level now!

Yes, correct. So now I've got 3.5" of lift up front.

This is actually a really good idea. My Coils have quite the mileage on them now.

Yeah, its nice because 5th gen coils are so easy to come by and cheap/free in most cases!

I'm a little concerned that this would result in decreased wheel travel, compression in particular. Looks like you're stuffing an 8 wrap spring in where a 6 wrap was, and since the wire diameter looks the same, when the spring is compressed to solid you have now lost about an inch of up travel. Unless the bump stops completely prevent the spring going solid?

My truck is a V8, so my factory coils are 7 wrap (counting from my photo above) and the 5th gens are 8 wrap... As you can see from my photos they still stuff just fine with no loss of travel, as far as I can tell. Either way, I'd rather have an extra inch of ground clearance and a level ride than 1/2" - 1" more up-travel/compression. This isn't a rock crawler, after all, it sees more dirt roads and mild trails than any other terrain.

Thanks to the OP for this. Not to hijack but:
I installed my 2017 shocks and coils on my SR5 2006 4Runner after reading this. I reused the Daystar 2.5/1.5 lift.
Now my front sits at about 37.50 and my rear at 37.25 Driver side and 37.50.
I don't care too much about the DS lean as i can cure that with an OME 10mm rear coil spacer. My issue is that now it looks like negative rake.. and technically is on the Drive side rear. I usually have about 100 Lbs loaded in the rear and this makes its worse.
What do you guys recommend to get my rear 1" higher? Day Star Doesn't make a 2.5" rear spacer.

I just picked up a 2005 SR5 Sport and I'm considering installing my 2016 SR5 suspension under it. Wondering how much lift I'll get with just this swap, no additional spacers?

Rear springs lift?
I just got a set of coils and springs from a 2018 T4R off road and was wondering if the rear springs gave you any lift? I’m going to use them with a set of 5100s but wasn’t sure what the rear would sit at to know where to set the front clip at. I just got a 2004 V8 sport 2wd that still has the stock XRES suspension. Would like to end up with a 3” lift but atleast get the rake in the front leveled out.

I have the exact same setup, my 109k mile rig gained a bit all around, though i didn't take before measurements. This being said they fit perfectly and ride wonderfully with the 5100's.
Link to my thread.
