Do your parking lights light?

I am a bit confused. I have a 2003 and I converted to LED's and added new flasher control and all works well . My turn signals work perfectly, no hyperflash. But I always thought when I turned my headlight switch halfway that my front turn signal lights lit up and stayed on like parking lights of other cars I have owned. Currently they only light as turn signals and are dark when the headlights are on or I turn the switch half way. My marker lights work and it seems all the fuses are OK. Am I missing something? Thanks.

Those lights are used as DRLs. They either stay on until headlights are cutnon, or don't come on at all. This can be programmed by the dealer. Mine don't come on at all... until my turn signal is activated.

Any way to mod them to where they can stay on with the headlights on?

I have seen "switchback" LED lights on Amazon. Is there any way to program to work as intended on a 2003. I mean can you have the white light part work as DRL's and stay on with your headlights and the amber part work as a turn signal? Maybe this is asking too much for too little benefit.

Check out J.A.'s write ups.
DRL light mod.
Fog light mod.

I did both of these on my 2005 4Runner. Now I can turn of the yellow DRL whenever, or have them on with the head lights. Also, I can turn on the Fogs without having the head lights on.

Great, thanks Yin! We are going to be in for several rainy nights (and days) in SE Georgia so I can spend my weekend in the garage screwing around (and hopefully not screwing up) my 4Runner. If I do screw it up I will be running with my tail between my legs for you gracious gentleman for help. Thanks again and have a great weekend.

After reading through these mods I have one important question. I have a 2003 SR5 with without the DRL option (not sure it was even available then). Can I add a DRL module ( I have already added the LED flasher module) in order t at least begin to work on the DRL mod? I plan on searching for the module on Amazon and EBay . I already purchased Morimoto switchbacks.

I'm not sure @wahoossi . Mine already had the DRL option, so I was able to do the mod exactly how J.A. explained it.
