06 Limited stereo woes -- LCD issue

So this happened this morning (see pic below). I *think* everything else is still working normally.

This is on a 06 Limited, so it's the JBL head unit. Can I fix just the LCD screen itself? It seems like everybody has issues swapping the Scion units on the JBL 4runners. That or I can't find reliable info, even for a basic Scion head unit.

Should I just buy another used 06-09 JBL head unit? Do I need to worry about any security codes? Thanks for any help.

Hopefully it is a fluke. My lcd was inoperable one afternoon when I left work, but was fine the next morning. It was a hot day and there was rain in the forecast so I had left it all closed up and it was roasting away in there. Maybe your issues are heat related as well? Fingers crossed. Please update and let us know if/what you pick for a replacement, I have the same head unit and am curious to see what you find. The rec from another thread was to order the 'urban runner' trim piece to deal with the flush mount issue. I haven't researched it much yet though. Good luck!

I've had two Toyota radios do this. Go to Crutchfield.com and pic out a new radio of your choice. It will be cheaper and better quality than OEM.

That could be, it is definitely hot and humid here today, especially for MN. Will report back if something changes.

I've already replaced the JBL 6-disc stereo from my '06 Limited and it's just sitting in the basement, so if you want to replace it on the cheap let me know and I'll sell you mine.

It must have been the heat because it seems fine after sitting in the parking garage all day at work. Thanks much!
