Hey guys. I'm a newbie here, picked this up to fill the void I had after selling my 2015 Tacoma TRD Sport back in April. I've decided I'd rather have the SUV to do my truck things, and a fun car, rather than just one expensive truck that can't keep me happy in all regards. So this is step 1; step 2 will involve a C6 Z06 when I get back from an upcoming military 'deployment' to Korea for nine months.
I'm Chris, I'm active-duty Army at Fort Riley, KS. Live in Manhattan, KS. Grew up in Kansas City, went to college in Springfield, MO. Guess that makes me a midwest guy.
Here's the Tacoma I had..
Anyways, on to the truck.
- 2006; 2 owners; 153k miles on it; previously in western NY (anyone know the last owner? it was serviced at Casullo's in Kenmore, NY)
- previous owner put Icon & Bilstein suspension on it; nothing else too significant besides disabling the TPMS (PO did it exactly as I started to do, per the major forum DIY). it
- 18" limited wheels have 275/65/18 Michelin MTX and 1.25" Spidertrax spacers (all for sale)
Screwing around since purchase:
- full debadge
- removed front mud flaps
- removed running boards
- deleted resonator/tip, hidden turn-down exhaust
- shaved 4" off of the rear mud flaps
- tint (front sides to match OE rear tint; 50% on the windshield)
- 2x Yakima forklifts for my road bikes
- smittybilt hitch shackle
- 17x8.5" SCS F5 in Matte Dark Bronza with 275/70/17 BFG AT KO2s
- Daystar 1" lift to supplement the Bilsteins up front and level with the rears
My plans:
- Brand new Icon suspension and UCAs following the deployment
- frame sliders ASAP
- 2012+ Tacoma steering wheel & airbag
- drive it and don't worry much about it.
day 1; august 8 2016 as i drove it home + smittybilt shackle i had laying around my trunk since the Tacoma
day 3; august 11 2016 debadge; hidden turn-down exhaust
day 4; august 12 2016 2x yakima forklifts on OE rack
august 18 2016 pulled the running boards; removed 4" from rear mudflaps
---------------
on my tacoma, i ran the same wheels and tires; smaller. 16x8 & 265/75. this is what's going on with another bit of lift up front on the 4runner in 17x8.5 & 275/70 (32.2" tire)
The SCS wheels are currently en route, and this upcoming Friday I'll get them and the KO2s on the truck, with the Daystar spacers as well to match the rear Icon height

-10et, 17x8.5 SCS F5
275/70/17 BFG AT KO2 (32.2" tall)
some slightly unknown mix of Bilstein 5100 up front, Icon rear (previous owner)
Daystar 1" spacer up front

Well, I wasn't happy with the stock crossbars on the rack, so I went ahead and buckled down and did a full Yakima set up. I have way too much $$ into my road bikes, and didn't trust the 10 year old crossbars, and I also HATED that they left the bike crooked and leaning off the car.
Installed the Yakima Timberline and Jetstream aluminum 50" bars, with the 2x Yakima Forklifts on top. Obvious downside is this added another 3" to getting the bikes on the roof, but they are flat, level, secure, and strong.
