OBD2 on 4th Gen 2004 using the ISO protocol

I bought a Scanguage2, and felt like buying a OBD2 dongle off Amazon as well to test out using iPhone apps...

I understand the 2004 uses the ISO protocol vs the CAN of the 2005 and newer, and the even newer that uses CANSF...

My question is regarding XGuages, and other custom codes that this tool uses.

Does anyone know for sure if its possible to monitor transmission temps with a Scanguage, or another other tool with a 4Runner that uses the ISO protocol?

Does anyone have any tips, tricks, notes, or personal experiences to share using an ISO OBD2 tool on a 2004 4Runner?

Does anyone know if connecting the Scanguage2 will erase the Zero Point Calibration? It has happened before when I have connected one of my friends scanners... why it does that is explained in this thread here... it has to do with the scanner trying to figure out what protocol to communicate in.

Thanks
