Help Rack and Pinion Grinding Noise w/Video

Okay so I still can't figure out what is going on with this new steering rack I've installed not too long ago. I know for sure it's not the intermediate shaft so we can cross that off the list. There aren't any leaks either and the pump seems to be fine from what I can tell. I keep getting this grinding/clicking noise coming from the rack and rough steering as well mostly when I turn left. It's like instead of the turn being smooth its jittery and stuttering. If you watch the 1st video you can hear the noise and the 2nd video you can see the tire stuttering. Any info on what this be could really help me. Thanks!

Here is a video:

If you lift both front wheels off the ground, does it still make the same noises/stuttering?

No it's smooth and silent when both wheels are off the ground.

Would a bad power steering hose cause this?

check the upper and lower ball joints. it looks like you might have LR uca. pull the boot off and check it. if you have somebody to turn the put your hand on the arms and feel for a jerky vibration.

So that means it's only happening under load, or when there's resistance. I can't decide if it's a metal slipping on metal sound, or if it's a rubber on metal sound.
I can't think of any reason the hoses would cause this.

Could it be the rack? My old rack didn't make this noise before.

you've got a bad joint somewhere.
either tie rod end, or ball joint.

have someone steer it, and use a stethoscope to see which joint it is.

I don't own a stethoscope, but I'm thinking it could be the lower ball joint. Weird thing is, there's no play in it when I lift it up and check.

they aren't that expensive. but you can use a long handled screw driver, or something like it.

that's normal, it squeaks because its dry and tight. they usually wont have any play. eventually it will get sloppy, once it grinds away some material.

Sounds about right. The BJ looks like it's been leaking, I've ordered new LCAs for both sides so I'm hoping this will be the fix! Thanks for the info guys I'll check back in when I install them and see if the problem is fixed!

Okay so I've switched both lower control arms out and I'm still getting that same popping/grinding noise. Any ideas?

Curious if you ever found out your issue? I'm starting to experience a similar issue.

Rack and pinion was installed uncentered and I had a bad intermediate shaft.

wow. i have a similar squeak from the drivers side, mechanic said its a dry ball joint, and proceed to apply some oil. the squeak reduced immensely..but something tells me the mechanic is wrong.
my steering shaft hasnt be worked on before..thus i guess the cause of my noise is different from yours
