Front Wheel Bearing Hub Assembly

Hi all,

Yes, I have another problem.

My 2005 SR5 4runner is having front wheel bearing issues again. Back in March 2014, I replaced both front driver and passenger side with Bluepit bearings. Now one or both are going, I'm not sure yet. Bluepit only had a 1 year warranty and to me, 2 1/2 years is too short. From the two sites below, it appears that they're selling the hub and bearing separately and I don't have a press to put them together.

Anyone know where I can the whole hub assembly?

There is a user on here. @nj636 he presses the bearing and hub assembly together. I just ordered 2 last week. He has a thread somewhere on here. Only one I have seen that offers the whole assembly already pressed together.

Marion Bumper2Bumper.com

This is where I got mine from, very good quality and great reviews from forums. I have roughly 10k miles on mine and zero problems.

Exactly why you don't replace original components with junk.

Loud grinding noise coming from the wheel area. Noise gets louder as I pick up speed. I had this issue back in '14 on both wheels and replaced the wheel bearings. Not too thrilled since the original bearings lasted 9 years while the two I replaced only lasted 2 1/2 years. Though again, I haven't figured out which one it is yet.

I don't want to pay the dealership $700 plus tax for it. Ridiculously high price in my opinion. And yes they quoted me on that during my mv inspection.

Well you're on the road to a $700 bill it seems - not that I'd be willing to pay that either. For the record I used eBay hub/ bearing assemblies, hope they last a few years at least.

Have you had issues with BluePit before? I've heard mainly good things about them to be honest with you.

I went with Marion's offerings because he was a forum vendor and sold the whole assembly for a good price and his parts were good quality as well.

Angry

I had to replace my bluepit wheel bearing assemblies also. I had maybe 25k on them. Maybe the Timkin bearings in them are made in China now.
I replaced them with ones with the Toyo bearings in them.

Toyo meaning Toyota? That would be the Moog bearing.

Longevity depends on the installation as well. If you don't torque the axle nut the bearing will fail prematurely.

I can't keep a wheel bearing on my drivers side for some reason. I am on my 4th in 2 years, replaced two in the last year and this last one is bad already after a couple months of on road use only....Marion warrantied one for me, but it's not fair to him or the other guy here to ask them to warranty when it's an actual issue for some reason. The last one I had pressed together at a shop the guy messed up the threads and I didn't see it until trying to install on the knuckle, which subsequently really messed up the threads. I was able to get a tap and die and clean them up, but it is bad enough that now I will have to replace the spindle too. I don't understand why it keeps going bad, guys with 35's and offset rims aren't having these issue's. I have wheel adapters, but with the offset of the rims and amount of spacer I stick out 1.25" further.
