2005 Rear window issues solved

Hello everyone just thought I would share something with you and perhaps help someone who may run into same situation. This is on a 2005 4runner Sport Edition. The rear hatch window would roll down with the key fob and go up and down with the key in turned left and or right. HOWEVER, it would not go up or down by using the switch in the dash.

I did the basics making sure the window lock button was NOT ENGAGED. I resynchronized the windows using the info already posted in other rear window problem threads and it still would not open or close from the switch on the dash. I checked all the fuses and they were all good.

I thought to myself it is likely a bad switch but UNLIKELY the switch has failed. I was frustrated trying to get the switch out of the dash by pressing on it really hard and it wiggled loose. Come to find out NOTHING was connected to the back of the switch no wiring harness no wires no nothing. I then looked inside of the hole in the dash from where the switch WAS mounted to find the harness and I could not see anything. So then I got to thinking the harness has to be somewhere so I ended up taking out the faceplate housing for the hvac switches and low and behold I found the harness, plugged it into the switch, turned the key to on position and now I can roll up and down my rear hatch window from the switch on the dash.

I have no idea how it even became disconnected in the first place. The guy I bought the car from said it never worked and he never looked into getting it fixed. I just wanted to share my experience in hopes that it may help someone.
