Healdight replacement tutorial(step by step)

Hi all, i bought new headlights and i started changing them but ran jnto a problem,i cANt find bottom screw and its damn freezing outside.

Called mechanic to ask for price on changing it,he stated that the bumper needs to be taken off in order to be changed.

Is there a way to not to take off the bumper?

I tried search option but this tapatalk app doesn't understand what i need and only uses headlight keyword....

Thank you all for help.

I changed one of mine in the parking lot of an auto parts store with a borrowed screw driver about 10 minutes after I bought it. It took less than 5 minutes. The bumper definitely doesn't have to come off on a 2004 model, I can attest to that.

Can be removed w/out removing the bumper. It is tight and I couldn't find it immediately either. Use your new headlight as a reference for approx location (I left my lower bolt off because I was too lazy)

Here's an excellent writeup, doesn't look like he included the lower bolt picture though. This is for an upgrade, but the basics are still the same
How to do the 03->06 Headlight Swap.

Bumper cover is extremely easy to remove and could save you a ton of time to just do that. =)

@beliy25 you do not have to remove the bumper. Yes it makes it easier to access that bolt but you dont have to.

It is a PITA to get to that screw.

Get a close quarters screw driver or just a very small one and go through the wheel well. I pulled the fender back and was able to access it through there. If you can have some help and hold the fender thats even easier but not needed.

I too didn't reinstall that screw with no issues. Most people don't reinstall that screw.

Good luck!

I just replaced my headlights that I bought from 1aauto.com. I can attest that the lower bolt is a PITA to get to. After 2hrs of trying to get the screw on, I took the bumper cover off. I thought about just leaving that screw off, but I didn't want to be lazy.

I gave up on those. Both of my v6 have bolts there instead of screws.
