Flashing 4wd lights after deep water crossing
So yesterday me and some buddies went up run the trail up to eagle lakes. Had several deep water/ice crossings up to the doors. 4wd was working all day yesterday and went in and out of 4wd with ease. On the trip home I noticed the green 4wd light was intermittently going on and off, but not blinking. The whole time it was in 2wd and would still shift into 4wd and come out as well. Then this morning I get in my truck and both the green and orange 4wd lights are constantly blinking and the switch doesn't seem to do anything. Won't shift into 4wd and doesn't beep if I try to put it in 4lo even while moving. I'm thinking water got into the actuator plug or housing and shorted out the control module but I'm sure how to diagnose it.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks

I had the same problem a week back. I did the drive forward for about 100 ft reverse for 100 ft. (repeat) On the third round das blink'n lights turned off. All is working now. I have heard people had to do this 4 or 5 times.

I tried all the usual techniques to get it engaged, like driving forward and back, going into neutral and driving in circles. Switch seems to do absolutely nothing, thought usually it beeps if trying to go into 4lo while moving

Figured it out. Pulled my actuator off the front diff today, and about a cup of water poured out. The water was shorting the position switches and the control module didnt know where the shift fork was, preventing it from shifting into 4wd. Cleaned out the water and dried all the contacts and it worked perfectly.

This made me go check mine to go back into 4lo. No issues for me and I went through the same crossings. I'd see if you can get that plug a little more water tight.

Yeah I noticed that the breather tube was dry rotted and popped off the nipple on the diff, gonna replace it and it should be fine in the future.

It wasnt too much of a pain. Have to drain the diff fluid and unbolt the front diff to lower it enough to get to the actuator. I followed this video that shows pretty well what needs to be done.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5OeVZsresGo
Once the actuator is off, just a matter of opening it up and drying the water out if there is some and reinstall.

Mike, if you "don't know" you're a better man than me. I know I can't and wouldn't think of considering it!
