Odd question about auto-lock

You'd think I'd know since I'm the original owner, but I have a question about the auto-lock (or lack thereof) on my '06 Sport. The other morning I went out to find my center console tossed ... someone had broken into it while sitting in my driveway. No damage from forcing the lock and nothing significant stolen, but now I'm trying to figure out if it was locked. I could've sworn that it used to lock automatically after I turned off the ignition and got out of the car, but that doesn't seem to be the case anymore. Am I going crazy?

Mine does not -or- is not set to auto lock. (07 Limited)

My wife's old CRV did the auto lock crapola. It would auto lock after you turned it off, it would re-lock itself if you hit unlock but didn't open a door within a small window of time, meh. I found it beyond obnoxious (but still one of that car's lesser faults, I hate those things).

Yes, it was a pain in the neck occasionally to have it lock before I'd gotten everything out of car, etc. ... but I liked having that security blanket knowing that if I somehow forgot to lock the car it would lock itself. I'd like to reactivate that if possible ...

Is this a setting that must be enabled? My '06 only auto locks if I unlock and do not open any doors within a minute...

4th gen 4Runner Secrets?

Give this a read. IIRC there's a bit in there about the different options you have for when the truck locks

I'm not sure. I don't see any reference to it in the manual, but I clearly recall mine auto-locking ... and it's not doing it now. What I'm not sure about is whether it was only auto-locking as you describe or if it was auto-locking after I got out of the car. I thought it was both ...

Mine functions like ATOWN4R. It'll re-lock itself if a door isn't opened after unlocking the truck with the fob.

I've never seen mine function like OP describes it (auto locks after turning off the truck)

... but I always double tap lock on the fob anyways to turn off the headlights since I leave them in the on position.

This is why I'm asking the question ... could be that I'm not remembering it correctly. It's one of those things I didn't pay much attention to until now.

Now to wonder about all the numerous other times you walked away thinking your truck locked itself up.

Sorry OP. Hope nothing else was stolen other than your sense of security.

Just a iPhone charging cable and a set of iPhone headphones ... honestly, not even my sense of security since it seems like I must've left it unlocked.

Why even bother stealing at that point? A smart thief would've noticed that it was unlocked, checked for things, then left everything in the same place hoping you'd make the mistake again with something more valuable next time.

That said, they're thieving, so probably not very smart in the first place. At least nothing major was taken.

I don't recall it being turned on by default, but I could be wrong? I know I played with my settings a few times with the Techstream before I found my sweet spot.

Looking at the 2007 Owners Manual I see no mention of an 'autolock' feature after the key is removed from the ignition and the doors are closed.

Sidenote, Mine when I bought it autolocked all doors when the trans was moved out of Park, then auto-unlocked all doors when the trans was put into Park.

I thought that was overuse of a part that is about $280 to replace, so I changed it to no-auto-anything per instructions in the Owners Manual on p.25.

P.23 of the 2007 Owners Manual has a provision where no doors can be unlocked or locked via the master switches on the front doors when all the doors are closed.
