AC Compressor on its way out?

So I picked up this 2007 V6 2wd with 183k miles back in December. Tested AC it worked great.

Now recently we've had a few warm days and I've been giving the AC a good workout and I'm noticing a few quirks. If I'm sitting in park and engage the AC it cuts on with a loud "clunk". I've also noticed that with the AC on the truck will sometimes want to surge forward even when I'm braking to a stop.

My question is, does this should like my AC compressor is on its way out or is this typical of the 4th gens? AC blows ice cold and otherwise feels fine but the loud clunk is slightly alarming as it kinda shakes the truck and the surging forward when braking is also a concern. Wondering if I need to start budgeting for a replacement now.
