Backlit mpg gauge?

Does the mpg/outside temp gauge (right above the a/c controls) backlight when you turn on the headlights. I rarely drive my 4runner in the dark and noticed mine does not.

When I had the center console taken apart for a stereo install I pulled the two tiny bulbs from the back of the gauge but it's hard to tell if they are burned out.

If the gauge is supposed to be backlit does anyone know the part number for those bulbs?

Might be a good time to upgrade to an led interior.

While this may be true, the examples I saw of LED on the temp gauge created a lot of "hot spots" and I have no interest in investing what limited time I have right now disassembling my interior just to change out bulbs that are still working. Swapping gauge bulbs is a 5 minute job. Maybe in the future when something in the speedometer cluster goes out it would be worth my time but not right now. That and I almost $500 in speaker and head unit upgrades.

Just make sure you get the proper replacement bulps. Some knockoffs will not be as bright and will make the panel look lower in light than the surrounding cluster

I am going to the dealership. They aren't that expensive and I don't need them in a rush of they are out of stock. 😉

Just to clarify, the 2 bulbs you need are for the back lit display, the single bulb is for the two buttons..Mode and Reset.

No worries. The diagram you posted was awesome and I already picked up a pair for the display and installed them. Thanks for the help!
