4th gen Suspension Setup

First off, I love being a part of the T4R nation. This forum has been such a blessing. I just wanted to take a minute and see if anyone is running this specific setup on a 4th gen T4R. I have an 04' V8 4wd btw:
-Bilstein 5100s all around. Front set to 2.5"
-Daystar 1.5" rear spacer.
-Used FJC all around.
-1.25" wheel spacers
The reason for my post is MOST discussions I've read, and I've been doing a lot of research here, ppl will set the front 5100s at 1.75". I currently run a Daystar 2.5/1.5 spacer lift and plan to run my new setup 0.5" taller. Just ordered my new shocks and will get the spacers Friday. I've read that the diff drop kit is basically worthless. Just trying to see what other members think. I know that the common rule of thumb is >3" of lift will result in troubles, hopefully this setup will only net 3" max in the front. Thanks for any ideas/input. God bless.

I have them set at 1.75 and it's good but 2.5 would be ok too but you may want to get air bags because if you load it up then the front may be higher

Fellow, knoxvillian here. Just to clear a little up.

1. you have Daystar 2.5/1.5 now
2. Getting 5100's, setting front at 2.5 with FJ spring. Rear 5100 with 1.5" daystars
3. Getting 1.25 wheel adapters and putting on with 5100's

If that is all correct, you are really curious about the diff drop.

I have had a diff drop on mine for 4 years, no problems everything still works just fine. Some use it and some don't. Its completely up to you. You could install lift and see what your CV's look like and decide from there.

As far as your math, technically your lift will be .5" taller. However due to old suspension and settling, chances are good your will get more than .5" lift. New shocks, springs etc.

I've been running that exact setup with NO diff drop for years now and have had no problems. The back does tend to sag a bit with a load but it takes A LOT of weight to get it lower than the front.

What's up man! Glad to hear from some Knoxville ppl. You are correct with understanding the setup I am planning on running. I was curious if I may get more than a 0.5" lift since I'm replacing worn springs/shocks. I just replaced both CVs up front, so I hope they'll handle the lift. Do you like the ride quality and lift obtained with the setup?

Thanks man. I was thinking no diff drop, unless the shop recommends it. I'm glad others are running this. Kept running into members with either the 1.75" or the lowest setting on their front 5100s. I figured someone else had to be doing this setup.

I never had the exact setup, but was close. You will like it a lot better than the 2.5/1.5 with stock gear.

Where are you having it done? What are they charging? I have done some work for locals! If you just replaced CV's then you should be ok and not worry about boots being torn etc.

I typically go to a place called P.AL.S. near Clinton Hwy. I have checked on the pricing yet, but I'll have to have the struts assembled. The t4R is sadly pretty rusted underneath (northern car) so I've opted to not tackle this alone. Haha
If you ever trail ride we should get some guys together and go one day. Doing an over landing trip April 21-23.

Crap, sorry I just now realized who this is! Just as a little FYI, I have refinished the lenses on the lights you sold me. They are perfect now, I haven't taken apart to black or retro yet, but they look great! Thanks!

You can do the "no spring compressor method" to put the struts together. It is very easy and works well.

Well I just did this modification to my suspension. just a little different.

I had stock XREAS with 2.5/1.5 spacer lift. I just swapped out Xreas with the bilstein 5100 struts coiled with 5th gen springs set to 2.5 up front and put on rear 5100 shocks. Kept the 1.5 spacer with my springs in the rear. But I do have toytec 2 inch springs ready to go on if I don't like the look/ride in the rear...but everything looks great right now.

I will try to get a picture of my T4R later today for you to see.

The one thing I will say is when it comes to suspension, you get what you pay for. I don't mind the 5100's because that's all I can afford, but the ride isn't great. on a scale of 100 I would probably give it a 50-60. definitely better options out there but I cant afford them. just happy that my XREAS is gone after leaking.

I hear the 5100s with FJC will be a little stiff, but some say it's pretty enjoyable. I believe I have the factory suspension on with about 117k miles. I hope it feels better than what I feel now. Did you get 3" of lift on the front, or more? Any troubles with it...
I saw where my ko2s were rubbing my control arms up front, so I'm hoping this spacer kit will move those off of it too.
