Thumbs up Eibach Pro-Truck Sport Shock Review (4th Gen)

Hey everyone!

I decided to try out Eibach's Pro-Truck shocks for my 4Runner. This is my first SUV/Truck type vehicle and it has 163,000 miles on it so I decided it was time to get new shocks. I have only owned the 4Runner for about a year now. I mostly tow my race car and just use it as a daily driver. I have taken it off road only once but I wanted something that would level out the height but still give me a great ride.

I went with Eibach Pro-Truck Sport shocks for the rear and Eibach Pro-Truck Sport Leveling (RHA) for the front. I decided to stick with the OEM springs.

Here are the differences per Eibach:

PRO-TRUCK:
Perfect performance upgrade for your stock truck or SUV with original equipment shocks and standard ride height.

Monotube Design, 46mm Pistons, Nitro-Coated Rods Heavy Duty Powder Coating
Improved Handling & Stability—On or Off-Road
Legendary Eibach Ride Quality
Easy—Direct Replacement Installation

PRO-TRUCK Sport:
Maximum performance for standard to moderately lifted trucks with larger wheels and tires.

Built to handle the extreme forces with more Off-Road performance in mind.
Monotube Design, 46mm Pistons, Nitro-Coated Rods and Heavy Duty Zinc Coating
Improved Handling & Stability—On or Off-Road
Legendary Eibach Ride Quality
Easy—Direct Replacement Installation

PRO-TRUCK Sport Leveling (RHA):
The same maximum performance as our PRO-TRUCK Sport shocks, with added front ride height adjustability for vehicles with factory front coilover shock configurations. Allows you to adjust the level of the spring seat to lift the front of your truck or SUV up to 2.5" (depending on application)

Monotube Design, 46mm Pistons, Nitro-Coated Rods and Heavy Duty Zinc Coating
Improved Handling & Stability—On or Off-Road
Legendary Eibach Ride Quality
Easy—Direct Replacement Installation

More information on Eibach's website: PRO-TRUCK Sport shocks | eibach.com/america

Per recommendation by Eibach we set the front shocks to go the third clip from bottom since I wanted it level. My cousin actually installed the shocks for me and he did a great job. My old OEM shocks were beyond rusty and gone. After the installation the ride is great and the front is definitely level to the rear now. The braking feels much better because the front of the 4Runner doesn't nose dive like it used to. I'll be towing my car next week so I'm excited to feel the difference in towing too! Let me know if anyone has any questions, I'd really recommend these.

Lift Amount: Oh, I forgot to measure the height distance before but after front and rear have about 6 inches between the liner and top of the tire if that helps, I'd like to know what the stock height is if anyone remembers.

Here are photos:

Old rusty OEM rears

Rear: Eibach PRO-TRUCK Sport vs. Toyota OEM

Front: PRO-TRUCK Sport Leveling (RHA) vs. Toyota OEM (Important note, we installed the spring perch upside down in this picture but was corrected before installed, whoopsie haha. Make sure you install those correctly regardless of the type of shock)

After install:

This is the only before side shot I remember taking so I put them in one photo so you can kind of see the lift difference in the front.

Looks good! Ive been wondering about the eibach shocks/struts. Be nice to have another option comparable to the Bilstein 5100's. Can I ask where and how much you purchased them?

Thanks for posting the review. I'm wondering if you installed the perches upside down though. If they were 5100s, the answer would be yes. These are a similar design and if you look at the product photos on Amazon, etc it shows them the other way around.

What's odd is that, if they are infact upside down I'd expect your lift to be considerably higher.

Sorry forgot to note that it was installed upside down, I just edited the post about that!

Cool, makes sense. Glad you figured it out before they were installed on the vehicle.

I wonder if Eibach manufactures those shocks in-house or farms it out, because I have a set of NOS (New Old Stock) Edelbrock IAS that look eerily similar, even the aluminum front lower spring perch.

Can you give an update on your Eibach shocks? I'm interested in them but I can't find too many people who have installed them on their 4Runners. Thanks!

No problems and rides great! Even had a friend borrow it and he was impressed how it rode for a SUV

Looks good just curious why you didn't do the springs while you were at it. 163k miles is alot on the OEM set.

Honestly didn't even think about it at the time, I'll probably have them replaced soon with Eibach springs

This is good info! I just bought a 07 4Runner the same color as yours and I'm looking at all new shocks/struts. It's cool to see your before/after pics since mine looks identical. I'm also between the Bilstein 5100s and Eibach so hearing your feedback is helpful. Thanks for sharing!

The rear shocks look suspiciously similar to the toytec boss rears I have. I guess makes sense I think toytec contracts them out to eibach.
