Didn't know that! I have used Aluminum valve covers on my WRX for over 2 years without issues.. But I'll be removing them from both now that you say that...

Ah, that makes sense. I agree the notifications and suggestions are nice, but I just hate how you have to use only certain apps. Spotify is fine, but Google Maps can suck sometimes. I prefer waze, so most of the time I end up using my phone as a navi, rather than plug it in for AA.
Thats quite interesting. Android auto App, or android auto ROM(If there is such thing?)
I'll let you know once I do decide to pull the trigger. Hopefully it'll be fine.

I was just referring to the app. It can run on phones and Android devices now.

That would be awesome if AA would allow you to select the nav app to use like it does with music

Wow, I'm surprised the App can cause boot issues..
It would be nice, and one of the reasons why I shelled out $400+ on my pioneer headunit was because there was so much talk for the development on waze, within a few months of release. Come 2 years, still nothing...

OOO we basically did the same thing. i just sold my 14 WRX - fuel pump, TMIC, Tune, straight piped turbo back - and just bought a 08 limited.
Looking to do the same stuff really, except mine has XREAS and RAS...are you removing the XREAS? im thinking of just putting in a space in the front and then looking into possibly adjusting the RAS for a high setting....i wish i read more into the RAS before i got this haha.

Nice!
I actually got lucky and my t4r doesn't have XREAS!
After doing some research, I'll probably just hold off and wait for a good set of suspension.

So.. For the few weeks I've owned my 4r, I keep hearing a squeak sound. It made me think it was a mouse, so I tried to trace it down. Luckily, no mouse. But I did remove the window cowl and added a screen just incase since it's a HUGE hole for animals to get into...
Since I'm going to be camping this weekend, and I noticed that my low beams were extremely dim, I opted to do the H9 mod. Almost night and day. I've noticed this lens is better than my WRX lens too, since I did the same mod, and it wasn't as bright and sharp. H11 on the left. H9 on the right.
Finally, I got lucky. I haven't gotten around to buy an AUX cable until today. I wanted to make sure it worked, but the AUX cable didn't go in. I realized that the original owner had broken the aux connector inside the connector. PITA to get it out, but got it working again.

Hey Matt, Mike G here. Can you post a video of the squeak sound your hearing? I'm sure someone here can help identify with problem.

Hey Mike, totally didn't know who you were until I found you on OB. haha
I'll try to get a video of it, but the sound has just gone away for some reason.
Also, a new sound has emerged...
Sounds like a dremel cutting plastic while at highway speeds, only when there is wind.. I looked at the wheel wells for any wear from the tire, but nothing... merp...
I'll get videos of both when I can.

Dumb questions.
1. Is there any way to "install" A-Trac into our cars? I came across a thread where certain FJ cruiser models can just buy the A-TRAC switch from toyota, and they already have the harness there, so it's plug and play.
2. Is there a way to "install" Auto LSD? I'm wondering if theres just a connector there...
3. Underneath the center console, there is one plug that is unused. It's a white connector, but does anyone know what it's for? The rest of the plugs are used for heat seaters, DC adaptor, DAC button and I think one more thing? I forget.

Came back from a camping trip yesterday in Bishop and Alabama Hills.. Man this rig is fun to play with off road.. Too bad I came to an obstacle, and bent my exhaust. But what fun is there without some damage? haha

Very annoying sound from the front of the car.
It almost sounds like you're taking a dremel to plastic and cutting it up. I checked the wheel wells for any signs of rubbing or loose panels, but nothing. The sound comes somewhere from the front. It's REALLY hard to isolate where this sound is coming from simply because it's so loud.
Does anyone know what it could be or where I should look?
Here's the thread I made...
