Oh boy this is solid info!

If you ever find yourself homeless or the wife kicks you out of the house - you're all set with a nice cot.

The REI King Cot fits incredibly well in the back as well.

I also made some quick bug screens for the rear windows with mesh screen and magnetic tape.

And yes, I don't know why my post pics sometimes get flipped upside down as it's quite random... I just don't know. think of it as a hip music video where i sleep on the ceiling.

How did you learn to park upside down?

With enough mods you can get a full 180.

Not sure how or why but half my photos get flipped. Sometimes I'm able to correct it by flipping the photo upside down and it posts correctly and sometimes it just doesn't. Sorry to go off-thread. Any advice on that is welcome.

Haha nice. Yea I've used mosquito nets, magnets and hot glue gun to make screens for windows and sunroof.

Just wondering, don't you guys worry the cot's legs will go through the back of the seats?

The cots I've seen have hoops for legs, not posts. I don't have a cot in mine, I just use a self-inflating mattress from REI.

The last time I went camping, and slept in the 4R, I bought a $13 pool float on Amazon and slept great. cheap solution and it packs up real well.

Once my drawer system is installed and extend it over the rear seats, I'll look for a 3 inch memory foam pad or something.

Link to pool float on Amazon:

Thought I'd toss in an update since I last posted in this thread. I've changed my setup since.

First off, since my original post was re: a photography trip to Joshua Tree LAST year, I figured I'd toss in a handful of the pics I got...

And then finally, after a couple/three trips with sleeping in the back, I decided I was over it, and bought a roof-top tent. REI had a killer sale and I was able to get a Yakima SkyRise tent. LOVE that thing!

Cheers,
Jared

Must be nice being short. I can barely fit in the back at an angle with the passenger seat all the way forward. Feet are scrunched in the corner :/

You need to pull the bottom of the back seat. Then there's lots more room.
