265/70/17 isn't that much bigger. In my opinion this should have been the stock size as it looks a lot better than 265/65/17. You won't need any trimming and probably won't even have to do anything to the liners. When I moved up to 265/70/17 I think I lost about 1mpg.

Just added a set of these Wildpeaks (265/70/17), wondering what others have set their PSI levels at? Mine are currently set at 38psi, should I adjust?

I personally run 32-34 all around. Just passed over 10k miles and no noticeable wear yet.....

265/70/17 is now the stock size tire. I really wish som one would make a 265/75/17 to put on these.

Has anyone run the 285/70/17 load E on the stock rims?
05' V8 4Runner Limited
Reason for the question. I just purchased a OME(886/895)/Bilstein(5100's) lift kit and will be running an ARB front winch bumper. However I intend to keep my stock rims for the time being until I can get the TRD rims or Methods/SCS.
I'm curious about any rubbing that may occur whether that be body mount or UCA's, etc

Just got mine installed today
I ended up going with the stock sized 265/65r17 tires. I went back and forth several times but after looking at a lot of pics these tires would in my opinion have looked stuffed with a 265/70r17 and the front probably would have had some slight rubbing issues. I think it turned out great though!

I've been doing some heavy tire research and I'm thinking these are the way to go, but just want some input to make sure they'd work.
Lift is on the way. The setup will be as follows: Wheelers T1 Front with 5100's set to .85 (2.5-2.75" I assume), and Wheelers T12 rear. Also going on the girl is a pair of Wulf Suspension UCA's.
Taking that lift into consideration, do you guys think the 265/70r17's should fit on the stock rim without rubbing or modification?

icon stage 2, 285/70/17 on a stock rim. Will I run into any issues with the stock rims? Obviously trimming will be needed as well as BMC.

Wheel offset seems to be the biggest factor in whether the tires rub. On mine with 265/70/17 I needed to move the wheel liners in the front, and remove the mud flaps because I installed them on wheels with. +1mm offset. It’s really no big deal at all once you look carefully to determine where the rub spots are. With stock rims though, you should be ok.

I see. I appreciate the response. I had a set of Falken Rocky Mountains on my runner and I loved them. I don't have any tools nor do I know anyone in the area who could help me out as far as trimming the fender/making any other mods to accommodate for the tires. The other route I was thinking was the 255/75r17 Yokohama Geolandar AT G015. I'd love to be able to throw a pair of tires on the stock rim without having to modify anything.

I've been running 275/70/18 on my 2006 for about 23,000 miles, I love everything about these tires except the weight. Only come in LT E rated for the size I wanted, but their performance in rain, snow, regular and offroad driving has just been great. Still have tons of tread left. Great tire at a great price.

Just so you know, for the 265/70 at least, you really don’t need any special tools, or have to cut anything if you have any rubbing. The mud flaps are screwed on, as are the wheel well liners. There are threads that discuss moving the front of the liners for added clearance, but essentially all you are doing is taking out the screws, moving the plastic liner forward an inch or so, then screw it back in place in the new location. There are metal clips that the screws thread into that you move also, but that’s about it. A drill is handy to drill new holes, but since it’s plastic, you could probably just punch new ones with an awl, or a nail, or similar pointed tool. Most threads I’ve seen using 265/70 didn’t require any mods though with stock wheels, unless they were running spacers to change the offset, or wheels with different offset like I have. I was wanting a more aggressive stance without sticking out way pay the body, which is why I chose the offset I did. It took me about a half hour to completely eliminate all rubbing by determining where the rubbing was, then moving the offending plastic. Super easy, and well worth it in the end.
