Leaking Oil Pan 05' 4WD Removal Help

I have done some searching and haven't had any luck and I'm sure this has been covered before.
Had my truck in the shop today for an oil leak. They tell me it's the oil pan and dip stick holder.
Just wondering if anyone can direct me in the right direction for the oil pan removal process.
Does anyone have a thread/write up on this?
Seems like a day project in the garage, but don't want to run into anything unexpected.
Also having a hard time paying the shop 5 hrs labour for something that sounds simple enough to do.

Thanks

The v8 has two pans. One small stamped metal one that is were the oil pick up and drain plug is located. The larger one is aluminum and covers the complete bottom of the engine. The motor has to be pulled to get it off. Not worth it in my opinion.

Get a second opinion. Quite possible it's just the o-ring for the dipstick tube. I have a few of these come through my shop and I've never seen the upper pan leak. Maybe valve cover gaskets, but not the oil pans. Mine V8 has 212k on it and both pans are bone dry.

The motor does not have to be pulled to get it off. I have taken mine off by myself in a day. To get it off you have to remove the front differential and the steering rack and remove both front CV axles. After you have that stuff off, there are about 16 bolts that have to come off, some from INSIDE the smaller oil pan that comes off the bottom of the larger oil pan. This is not a 2 hour job.

Exactly what I was looking for! Thanks very much.
Just needed a good idea of the process it would take. Prob just let the shop take care of it.
Time is money, especially your own.

Anyone have a part number for the Dipstick Tube and O ring?
Took a better look and that seems to be the problem. I would like to replace the whole tube itself as it is getting rusty.

Thanks

With all due respect, I believe that dip stick isn't for the 2005 V8, according to my search the part number would be.....

OIL TUBE - TOYOTA (11452-50190)

OIL TUBE - TOYOTA (11452-50190)
Looks like the part is 11452-50160 I got for a 2UZ-FE, but the 190 at the end could be a superceded part, so I'll take your word for that.

I had snagged a V6 Dipstick part number by accident. Sorry about that, thanks for catching that.
No worries, I'd rather be called on being wrong than have the poor guy order the wrong part.

Edit-

Actually I'm not sure what the different between the two is... Village Toyota Parts shows both part numbers when I cross-checked it against Partsouq... I don't think there's a difference in dipsticks between 2WD and 4WD, nor should there be a difference between VVTi and Non-VVTi as they don't bolt up differently... So why there's a 11452-50160 & 11452-50190 part number for the same item I don't know...

When I did my search I got part number 11452-50160 for my 2004 V8 but part number 11452-50190 for the 2005 V8, not sure what the difference is but I would suggest the OP submit his VIN number when purchasing the part so the supplier can verify which is the correct one for the 2005.

I second that, I put a 2005 4Runner in for VillageToyotaParts website and they give both dipsticks as an option, so I'd have them run the VIN to be sure.

I'm so glad I found this thread, because I was also wondering how much effort it takes to remove the oil pan in order to replace the FIPG. Given that I have a deadline, I'm going to run a thicker oil until such time when I can devote a whole day to this project. Maybe wait till one of my frog CV axle boot is leaking, at that time do this project all at once.

As I was staring up at it yesterday, I was thinking do I really have to move the front axle tube and this thread confirmed it.

I am so impressed with this engine that even at 400,000 miles, the only leak I have is the leaky oil pan seal. Not the o-ring, but the actual seal. I slowed it way down by tightening all of the bolts on the perimeter but that is not a real fix. Additionally, I don't like a leaky engine.

Just wanted to say thanks for the information on this thread.
