One other question that might seem odd.

I know they don't have the full coverage of a real diffuser, but has anyone seen any highway mpg gains running a "full belly" single skid?

Still trying to decide what sort of armor I want underneath with the build I'm starting, but with the lift/tires I'm going to run, it'll be a while before I can get into anything serious enough that it'll really matter so I have some time to mull it over.

I had that similar thought but the weight of the skid plates will either cancel out that tiny aerodynamic advantage or (more likely) worsen the overall MPG.

Are you trying to figure out if having a flat underbelly reduces drag like on race cars? I feel like the added weight of the thick skid plates will cancel out any mpg or performance gains (if there are any at all).

It's very possible that it would reduce drag vs the exposed components, especially with a lift and losing the running boards an front/rear valances, which I will be doing. I know it won't work as well as a real diffuser, just wondering if it might produce some noticeable benefit. My fluid dynamics and aerodynamics classes were too long ago (degree in Aerospace Engineering but I've been doing structures analysis for 20 years now) to be of much direct help past knowing that smooth surfaces are better than big pockets and cavities.

I'm not sure the weight is as much of an issue in my application, I will be installing a significant amount of armor underneath anyway, so it'll be more an issue of what configuration that weight is in.

because power/weight ratio. im running a hybrid blitz (when it shows up) and tire carrier, sliders, stock skids until i need new ones, etc.

if it werent a daily id consider making it more heavy
I daily a v6 with a DO front, 10,000 lb winch, 285/75/17s E load Ko2s, and a full length prinsu and honestly the 4.0 has done great. Ive never felt underpowered, these things aren't exactly quick to begin with lol. I can't speak to how the ARB compares weight wise but it for sure is much more bulky.

good to know and thanks. i factor in the brakes (been a big issue for me) with weight as well. the 4.0 motors are solid in many respects, so fair point and thanks for the example

I agree about the brakes, I have a sport edition so I have the larger rotors already, but I also upgraded to stop tech slotted rotors and Hawk suv pads and they made a difference. They are cost a bit more don't get me wrong but also very worth it.

This pic is with a 1" body lift or no? Curious what this bumper looks like with a 1" body lift.

Is anyone aware of which alum or steel rear bumpers come with and/or are available with 2" receivers in them?

T.I.A.!
CBI and Victory 4x4 both include a reciever.

Everything else I've been able to find for the 4th gen seems to be a kit of plate parts requiring welding. I didn't look too deeply into those.

I'm about to pick up an OEM V6 front skid plate to put on to my V8. Does anyone know if it's cross compatible? I've read that there might be some fit issues because of the V8's trans cooler lines.

03-05 and 06-09 have different front ends. Might want to look into this to see there anew any issues with lining things up.
