Agreed, it's a solid skid too. They're great guys making cool stuff for 4Runners.

Do these aftermarket skids have the reinforced section for jacking up the front?

Anyone know if the rear diff skid is the same on 4th and 5th gens?
...would a 5th gen skid fit on a 4th gen is the question.
No locker/kdss... plain jane SR5.

This is what i was looking at.

Not positive but if I remember correctly, the rear axles are slightly different. Try reaching out to the company and see if they have an answer.

EDIT: visually it looks about the same as the 4th gen RCI skid. There is a $20 difference for the RCI but at least you know it’ll work for sure.

I think if you crank that up it'll weld up to 3/16"

Ricochet off-road makes a nice 4th Gen skid. It fit up like factory, every detail was spot on.
Only downside is you can't run a Diff drop.

Anyone know if the RCI filler plate will work with the LFD skid?

I had all but made up my mind on the aluminum skids from RCI, just waiting to pull the trigger.

But seeing the price on the LFD has me second guessing it. Not sure it’s worth almost $200 to save 20lbs.

I'm pretty dead set on doing the coastal offroad front bumper but I've never welded before. If anyone has advice it'd be greatly appreciated.

Uhhhh... practice on something else? Laying a bead requires practice and knowledge of the relative thickness of the metals involved and how much power to use.

MiG welders are fairly easy to use, but require practice.

So I have a question for everyone. I've knocked out just about all of the weld nuts in place for the skid plates or destroyed the threads in them. Already pulled the trans cross member and drilled it out and welded bigger nuts in place but now the threads holding the back of the front skid plate on are all ****ed up. So has anyone had to correct this issue and what did you do for the back bolts on the front skid plate that I cant get to?

If the holes are still the original M8 size, you could take them out to an M10 size and use Time-Serts to restore the threads. That's what I ended up doing on mine.
