Front end noise

Hey everyone!

06 4th gen V8 4x4 80K miles.
I've got a noise in my front end somewhere. It sounds like a wheel bearing noise but only makes the noise while I have my foot on the accelerator, when I let off it seems to go away. I have recently replaced both front wheels bearings to try to solve the problem, obviously didn't fix the issue. I am now considering dropping the front diff to replace the outter bearings and the pinon bearing etc. while in there to chase this noise. Also, last Friday, I dropped the front driveshaft to feel the u-joints, no stiff spots at all. I am at a loss now, has anyone experienced experienced this issue or have any advise?

Thanks in advance.

When I purchased my used 2005 with 140k, I for sure thought it had a bad front bearing, but the dealer replaced a rear bearing and it solved the issue. I could hear and feel it in the steering and pedals, but low and behold, all quiet and smooth now.

That's interesting man. I'll have to see what I can do there as far as checking for noises while it's up in the air. Thanks for the reply!

Do you notice a difference between 2 and 4wd? I had a similar problem on my 3rd gen, turned out to be a bad universal in the rear driveshaft. Found destroyed needle bearings when I took it apart.

I had a little clunk noise that turned out to be the LCA bolt, was able to crank it a bit and get it tighter. Maybe give a shot.

Well unfortunately in this particular situation my V8 with full time 4x4 doesn't help. I tired to just remove the front drive shaft but the car then will not move due to all power going to the front, thinking the wheels are stuck or something. Also, my noise isn't a clunky noise, it's a humming/rotational noise.

Front end clunk

I get a front end noise going over dips or bumps. I’ve removed the skip plates and the sway bar including the links but no luck.. the sound didn’t go away and it drives me crazy. I have bilstein 5100 installed about 4 years ago and also had my LCA’s replaced about 2 years ago. Any ideas what might be the issue?

Pinion bearing seems pretty logical given the circumstances. I would check the fill level by pulling the fill plug and topping it off. See how much it takes. Then take it for a spin. If you're lucky and this is relatively new you may get away with just having the correct amount of fluid (if it was indeed low).
