Dumb question of the day

Today's dumb question from me concerns "plugs and wires". I've always heard (and I understand why) that a good maintenance item to complete is replacing the plugs and wires. I'm pretty sure I've figured out which plugs I want but why do I not really see anything about wires or coil packs or anything like that? Whatever the correct terminology is for our rigs, do they not really wear out?

Ha, well at least you started it off the way you did. But its a good question. Our rigs have "coil packs and wires" on top of each plug, they are "stand alone" if you will, all electronic. Not like a 90's pickup that need swapping. You can buy new ones, but really no need as far as i know. Look at them now and it will make sense.

Thanks for the reply. I went to NGK's site and looked up my model there. I'm going with the NGK Iridium Ix Spark Plug (BKR6EIX-11) unless someone tells me I'm an idiot. For some context I have a 2003 Limited v8 with 203k miles.
