which ATF "front" oil cooler line is the return line to the tranny?

im getting ready to do a flush and replace of my tranny fluid but i dont know which line to hook to the funnel for refilling. i have the towing package so it has an extra ATF cooler in front of the radiator and im going to be doing the flush and fluid replace from it since that makes things so much easier. so does anyone know do i connect the funnel to the top or bottom hose of the extra cooler in front of the radiator?

also do i need to remove the top fill plug on the tranny to allow it to vent air for refilling it from the cooler hose? im thinking no, but wanted to ask because im thinking the tranny has its own vent just like a rear axle doesnt it?

i couldnt find any videos showing it being done this way and while its simple to just see which hose fluid comes out, i would like to avoid making a mess.

thanks for your help

It's been posted on the forum how to do the flush via the cooler and which line is which, I don't have time to do the searching for you, so you will need to do it.

ya, but that was the radiator coolant line not the extra cooler in front

come to think of it, i shouldnt be able to blow through the pump side, so if i just blow in each hose, that should tell me which one is just the open return line that dumps back into the pan

I think it was in the same topic as the radiator line topic but towards the end where someone did it via the trans cooler lines and posted his process of doing so, but it is for sure posted on the forum somewhere!!

Edit: @keakar , As I stated it's in the topic I just mentioned, I went ahead and found it for you even though I really didn't have time to do so just to prove to you that it's on the forum, you need to do a bit of reading and or scanning through topics if you want to find the info you seek sometimes, I know it "much easier" to get others to do the searching for you but it's time you started putting a little more effort in your searches before giving up!!

Look at post #176 posted by jambone and the following post #177 by 4by4runr, (which in this post you even "liked" by the way!)!

ATF Exchange (using the cooling line)

thanks, that is the post i was trying to find again, wasnt sure if it was the top or bottom hose so now i know for sure its the top one.

its not easy to read through 7-8 pages of posts, and in this case its 14-15 pages of posts, when you dont have good eyesight so ya i ask a lot of questions because its a forum where its ok to ask questions if you cant find what you look for in searches
