Question Warning BEEP???

I will admit that I have 4wd envy and when I find myself on a dirt road I always seem to "peel out" or do something to compensate for my lack of 2 extra spinning wheels. Today I was a bit more aggressive than usual and as I tried to do a donut I heard a beeping noise. It instantly reminded me of my flight training when I learned how to recover from a stall. I

Yes, this is a feature. It's the anti-skid control. When the "slippery when wet" light comes on, it also beeps.

The first time it happened to me, I was waiting for the voice telling me to "pull up"!

That's the VSC letting you know you've lost tranction and it is correcting. Personally, I'd prefer to not have the beeping noise. If I'm in a situation that VSC has to kick in, I'd rather not it distract me from what I need to do.

Yeah, when I am off road and I am going up a steep hill I don't really want to know that I am starting to slip, its kinda scary.

I must say, I'm impressed with the aviation knowledge in this thread - at least the knowledge to use the acronyms properly! Maybe the T4R has some special affinity to pilots!

I'm not sure about Pilots, but there are a lot of Engineers on the forum.

Ha! No "stick monkey" here. I'm the last of the navigators. Someday I would like to get my private license however.

I like the "beep" when the VSC kicks in.

That's how I know the 4Runner won't respond to the accelerator, such as attempting to spin, then backpedal.

This is helpful when you don't have much traction and need to get it turned sideways.

Much less damage if you slide off the road sideways vs a head-on into the bank. Many times the tires just hit the ditch and you're fine.

Also can help you move out of the way of an obstacle you are sliding towards. Can't stop, but can spin sideways and get beyond the telephone pole, mailbox, etc...

You got it Brad! Myself, I'd rather have an autobrake for talking the interstate offramp Or maybe an FMS instead of a GPS?

Happy New Year All!
