Any interest in window up/ down / rear hatch pop wiring kits? Perfect for camping!

**UPDATE 11-21**

I put together a kit and will be writing up a clean DIY after Thanksgiving. I have enough material to do 9 kits and am taking orders (will ship once I finish the DIY and am back from Thanksgiving). Price will be $45 plus $5 in shipping. PM me if interested or shoot me an email- [email protected]

Kits will include:

Harness A
Harness B
(pre terminated connectors on each harness)
Up-Down DPDT Switch
Momentary SPST Button
6 zip ties
2 spare Toyota panel clips (just in case you damage yours when removing rear door panel)
1 spare Toyota interior trim clip (not shown; these are the pink compression clips)

Installation shouldnt take more than an hour. I would be happy to entertain offers to do the install for people (In San Diego) if interested.

OLD POST:

Hey everyone, wanted to see if anyone would be interested in me making up pre built kits for my mod below-

I camp in my 4Runner quite often and my two complaints were:
A) to get out, I had to open a side door as I couldn't open the rear hatch from inside.
B) to roll rear window up and down, I would have to crawl up to front, put key in ignition and use the front button.

I fixed this by installing a DPDT momentary switch that when pressing up, locks the vehicle, and after 2 seconds of holding down begins to roll the window up / pressing down unlocks and after 2 seconds begins to roll the window down. The key does not have to be in the ignition, and you can control it however you like.

I then installed a SPST momentary push button switch that pops the rear hatch allowing you to get out easily.

I had to buy in bulk on a few of the switches so now am stuck with a bunch of parts. Would anyone be interested in a pre-built harness with switches along with instructions / wiring schematics? If so, what would a fair price be?

I'm assuming the parts cost less than $10 per vehicle. Plus your labor that went into this (5hrs? 10?) I'd say like $25-$30 seems fair, you could probably get away with charging $40-$50 imo.

Very interested. Depending on how assembled it is, I would drop $30-$40.

Awesome to see interest in this!

The kits would include:

Full step by step instructions
Up down switch
Rear pop button
wiring harness fully assembled (extruded cable for a very clean install)
zip ties
IDC connectors for tapping into the factory wire harness
a few spare panel clips since you're likely to break a few when you take off the rear panel

I'd be in for $30-40. That's been one of my biggest gripes about camping in the back of the 4runner.

Also interested. Any pictures of the kit installed? Also, is there any way to put a guard over the switches so a packed truck couldnt hit the button?

A while ago I tired to wire this up through my remote start fob with no success. Assuming the signal was sent to the same location as your setup, if you'd be able to send a wiring harness over that I could incorporate into my existing RS setup I'd be interested. Does this work when the truck is off? AKA it needs to send temporary power to the rear hatch?

Depending on the quality of instructions, I could definitely imagine $50 as a fair price

to do the same thing with aftermarket alarm, its pretty simple.
some relays and diodes and the trigger is all you need.
DIY MOD: Rear window roll up and down via aftermarket remote start/alarm system

now to do this without the alarm, you can run a few wires and tap it to the key wire in the tailgate. also do the same for the unlock button if you want to be able to open from the inside. you can trace the lock and unlock wire at the tailgate ecu. I forgot the color.

Yes, that's the writeup I followed unsuccessfully. But that's for another thread.
