2004 Sport subwoofer panel question

i have been all over these posts and webpages and youtube on replacing my blown JBL sub. i have seen some pictures of the "L" shape panel removed and also the whole rear side panel removed for replacement. before i go and start pulling on panels, can the "L" shape panel that has the sub "grille" in it be removed or does the whole side panel need to come out?

How does it sound with the new sub installed? Did you change out the amp or run a dedicated amp just for the subwoofer?

Installation looks great! Tempted to change my sub out but mine isn't blown and still sounds good.

i did not add an amp. just running it off the factory JBL amp. I guess that is not entirely true as I added a Kenwood touchscreen for a deck ( i wanted a back up camera). i think this helps put out more power than the factory set up. this Pioneer was a perfect fit, even by turning it a little in the opening, all the original screw holes line up so no drilling new holes. i am happy with it for sure. it definately is not a "booming" system, but a little better than factory, hits lower as well.

Which Pioneer model is that? I need a new sub and love that this is a direct replacement.

if you look at the link in my signature, you will link to my build page and see what drops into that hole with no mods just swap out.

Did you have to use the metra tyto adaptor for your new radio? Any issues with that?
