4th Gen Camping/Storage System - DIY-

The Drawer Plans are finally out!
After many efforts and delays, I am happy to announce to everyone that the drawer plans are finally out!

This is a modular system designed for use in the 4th gen 4Runner that I built for myself. This means if someone wants to build just one part of the 4 part system, they should be able to.

My motivations for making this free are a direct result of the community. I have won t4r 4runner of the month in the past, I have met many people at local meets, and have have always had so many questions answered all for free. So, this is my way of saying thanks.

Use it for tailgating, use it to carry your guns, camping gear, spare parts, or even kid's toys. Whatever makes you happy.

To get the plans, simply go to the website, add all of the items to the cart and checkout.

To order the parts, the list is on the website with amazon links.

Enjoy!
-Adam

@bagelsjustbagels - Did you use a latch? I made a similar drawer system but don't have a solution yet for a latch.

Also follow you on Instagram (JersT4R), and now YouTube. Thanks for sharing your plans!

The drawer slides are locking slides, which appear to act as latches.
I'll probably use these to make a system! Thanks for the plans!

This is correct! They lock in and out. you can also add an additional latch if you want it to lock with a key into place.

If you get them, feel free to do it through the amazon links on my site, at no cost to you I get a little kickback from amazon

Nice looking build! I built a very similar setup in my 4th gen. I wish I would have placed a sliding drawer on the left like yours. I have a slide on right with a hinged drawer on left.

Access is an issue when you have the back of the T4R full of camping gear! Good thing my build was only a mockup!

Thanks, and I agree access was a huge issue for me, hence the drawers!

enjoy!

By chance could you go into a little more detail on the electrical setup? The intended purposes, etc.

Great stuff

Not to sure to be honest, but it is definately not light. Maybe at least 180lbs on the low end, 300lbs at the high end.

Sure! The electrical system is a dual battery system with a Blue Sea ML-ACR battery isolator.

the second battery is a costco deep cycle battery that was only $80 and gets the job done.

The Isolator manages the power between the two batteries, and will allow me to jump myself if need be. it also allows me to drain my deep cycle battery without risking my starter battery.

The deep cycle is connected to a Fuse panel, where i plug in my fridge, radios, usb and car charger panel, power inverter, and in the future- lights.

Right now i can go about 2-3 days of fridge and led camp lights before i run out of power, eventually I'll add some solar power but I'm in no real rush.

Hope that helps!

Thanks for giving us all a Christmas present!!

A question on your dual battery setup, you say you can go 2-3 days before you run out of power on the deep cycle battery, does your setup not allow recharging the deep cycle battery via the alternator?
