How many miles until your original alternator and/or starter failed?

And what did you replace it with? New or rebuilt OEM, or some other brand?

Mine went out at 175k. Had it rebuilt by a local shop for less than $100. Before that I tried a few "new" ones from the local chains and got 2 lemons. Rebuilt OEM has had zero issues since.

My alternator started whining at about 160k. Replaced with re-man OEM.

Just had Toyota do my 06 under warranty a couple of months ago. It had 105,000 on it when done. Also my ac condenser went out on the 06 not too long after. Thank God I bought the warranty on the 06 as it has paid for itself with those 2 issues alone. My 03 is still going at 118,000.

06, v8, 328k and I’m on my original for both. Will definitely get OEM if they go toast

stock alternator went out at 141000
this was able to charge 2 group 31 batteries and 4 amps.
changed out to a mechman 240 high output alternator and that failed at 170000, sent it in for repair, and they fixed it for free, since he didnt see me abused it, new brushes is all it needed, and it was 2 month out the 2 year warranty window. now my system is really good now.

Mine went out about 92k. About 40k of those miles are city driving. I went with a OEM rebuild from Partznet as they are local.

Had some intermittent whining for about 9 months. Usually only at start up and sounded like PS whine more than alternator bearings. When it went out the battery light came on an knew it was the Alternator as the battery is less than a year old.

I also had Autozone benchtest the old one just for fun. It PASSED so take that as a warning.

You can get a reman ND alternator from ND. They rebuild them with the exact same parts that they made the OEM units with. For a little over $200.00 bucks it's a steal.

Thanks for the link, just an FYI, the link posted above will not fit the 2003 to 2005 V8 engine, here's a link for one that does, not sure what the diffrence is.

https://www.densoproducts.com/product.aspx?zpid=12632

Also neither of these seems to fit the V6 engine, again not sure what the difference is, the site doesn't even list any for the V6!

Not sure that the case since the 2005 is a VVTI engine.

I compared the photo of the two and the only obivous difference I could see was a slight difference in the back cover.

What is also odd is that the "fitment" tab says that both of these will fit the 2006 and 2007 V8s

That's interesting they don't list the V6. Here is the 2005 V8.
