Fitment Question.

I just mounted some Goodyear Wrangler MTR Kevlar 285/75/16's up from 265/65/17's I have an Icon Stage 2 (3" lift) with new upper control arm and I looked at the fit and the front tires are awful close to the spindle. Also when I turn the wheels at either extreme I get some shuddering. Is this something I should be concerned with? Have I effectively taken away some turning radius?

FYI I did trim the inside of the fenders where I was getting some rubbing so I don't think that's the issue.

And if I don't have this post in the correct section I apologize and hope one of the admins will set me straight.

Thanks!

You could go wheelspacers to push the tire out or even new rims.

That thought has occured to me. Aren't there issues with wheel spacers? More wear and tear on the hubs and CV's?

Here's a pic of what I'm dealing with.

Okay so I have more info. The front tires 285/75/16 rub on the rear at the frame and lightly on the spindle near the upper control arm. I have '04 oem rims 7.5" width with 5" backspace and 30mm offset.

Has anyone else had this issue? If so what was your solution?

So far I figure I have a couple options.

1. Install Spidertrax 1 1/4" spacers which will move the tire out board away from the spindle and may or may not solve the frame rub. My limited understanding is that using a spacer may only change where the tire rubs on the frame. Also I'm worried about installing a spacer and then needing to trim the factory bolts. If that need to be done it's seems it would be hard to go back.

2. Buy and mount after market wheels in the 8-8.5" width with 0 offset and 4.75" backspace. Icon tech feels that will definitely resolve the issue.

Really hoping someone has some feedback.
