Nice build. Once a 4th Gen makes it into my garage, planning to do identical install.

Seeing the DH header install can be “easily” done and the pics are a huge benefit for me.

Looking great

Thank You Sir!! Do yourself a favor and do the headers BEFORE the suspension lol. Actually doing the both jobs at the same time would be perfect, as you could disassemble the suspension, pull your CV axles, and have plenty of room for jacking up the 2UZ to remove the OEM manifolds and then install the headers.

I have to say this build was inspired a lot by the other members who did all this stuff first and your post reminded me that I want to thank a lot of them.

Header Install:
- @LT1coupe was a big help in that regard.

- @Marfy for being a great member liaison with Doug Thorley and diplomatically getting them to listen to and rectify their rust issues, I think we all gained some respect with DT due to his approach.

- @blackoutt for the o2 sensor and cel experiences he went through.

- @Formidable for being one of the first to actually install LTs.

- @Inv4drZm who has helped out a bunch with his knowledge and is now building a set of headers he might try to produce for the 2UZ.

- @Jason B of course, for having good rapport with DT, finding them a donor 4th gen V8 for R & D and putting all these group buys together.

I know there are members I'm forgetting and this was very much a combined effort by a lot of people getting these headers produced. You have probably already seen this thread, but for other members here is a long read and some really good info: Group buy for Doug Thorley PREMIUM VERSION headers, need 20 people!

The suspension part of this build involved a lot research, and there are so many people on this forum who have been instrumental in that but I can't remember them all.

First for having well thought out and well built components I have to thank
- @TOTAL CHAOS

- @Califab Chance Hokanson makes some super strong offset rear links.

A couple people I received shock help from:

- Micah @Down South Motorsports is a great guy and local to you in San Diego, but your lucky because your area is filled with a lot of great fabricators and suspension guys.

- Ben @Filthy Motorsports was a big help having some Coilovers built to match up with my secondaries on the TC dual set up. He has some great videos as well. I rebuilt my 5th gen Kings using his video as a guide.YouTube

And finally:
- @LTDSC who's rig I noticed and have been following way before I even bought my 4th gen. His build, documentation, and generosity with info are second to none.

All these folks I have mentioned are bad asses in their own right and I don't think they get thanks enough for making this forum what it is.

Next up for "Pearl", hopefully soon some 4:56 gears and a rear locker, modifying her rear 4 link with some more "up" travel, and hoping to learn some more about tuning the 2UZ to get some respectable N/A power on the ground.

Thanks Again Everyone!!

@AuSeeker was making fun of the audio on my video sounding like a can of rocks bouncing around in there. So I eliminated a little bit of the noise today. Really wasn't a good idea to have a Hi Lift inside the cab anyway.

Yeah I was having a little bit of fun by mentioning a can of rocks but I was truly wanting to know what was making all the noise.

And I agree that if possible to not have the jack inside the truck is a good move, it would make a great missile if it wasn't securely tied down if you had to do a panic stop or got into an accident, so you get a 1st place trophy for putting it outside up on top.

Little loud for me on the street, but that blast down the power lines was sweet!!
Brought back memories of doing the same about 25 or so years ago in Michigan on a pumped up Yamaha TT500, they both bark nicely!!

Hey Man! I put some of these 4th gen videos on a YouTube "2UZ 120"

Some are a little long but kinda fun. I'd like to post any of yours you want to throw on there. Also wondering if I can make it public, so we can all put our stuff on there. Wheeling, mods, exhaust, etc. I won't be working for awhile so maybe we can put together a good resource to complement T4R.org.

Put my Nitrogen rig together. All six kings were down in pressure and the secondaries were @ 0 psi. I never checked them before, I guess they were shipped that way. Should be some improvement.

Practice. I think I need a taller table though. There's reason a good welder/fabricator is well paid. Lots of respect for them.

If you want to learn a little more I would recommend weldingtipsandtricks youtube channel. Mostly tig welding but with tig welding you can easily see everything and you can transfer the knowledge to mig. I think its helpful to see close up arc video, kinda hard to see what you're doing with mig.

Yes Sir! Already subscribed a few months ago. He actually has a 7 or 8 part series called Mig welding basics from 6 yrs ago that I've been watching. Likeable guy and his camera work is pretty damn good. I figured out this old Hobart has a pretty fast wire speed by watching his stuff. Helped me out a lot. And he etches his welds to show why certain welds aren't acceptable.

Dirty Parts Alternator Voltage Booster Install

I bought AGMs for these trucks and didn't realize our 4Runners don't have sufficient voltage to top these batteries off. So I installed a Booster that gives you another .50 to .70 of a volt to help with charging.

Hey wanted to first say, this truck looks awesome. Second I wanted to see how your are liking the King 2.5 setup. Looking at buying this with adjusters SPC uppers for my 06 4runner and would be great to hear how you are linking it!

Hey Man, Thanks! I just drove my 5th gen out there to Maricopa last Christmas. My family settled out there years ago.

This 4th gen has dual shocks in the front w no anti sway bar and a custom length rear so it's not really gonna be something you can guage your set up on. It's built to go fast off road, but takes getting used to on pavement. Kings are the bomb any way you look at it. You can't go wrong with a 2.5. I have the 2.5 Kings OEM performance series on my 5th gen that would be more in line to what your going to have on your rig, build thread is in my sig at the bottom.

You have to figure out the style of driving you want to do as far as how your going to set up your rig and how much weight you will have to determine spring rate and how the Kings will be valved. The 5th gen is HEAVY and the 600lb spring rate is at its max, but works well for me. So if you have plans of adding heavy mods later in your build you need to account for that in your suspension plans. Lot of factors to study up on, read till they bleed is my motto.

All that said, I love these shocks, they are nothing short of amazing when you get them dialed in. I've had a very good experience with Ben Brazda over at Filthy Motorsports | King Shocks and Off-Road Racing Parts in CO, and also had a good experience with Micah at https://downsouthmotorsports.com/ in San Diego. There are probably guys local to you in Chandler/Phoenix also that you can consult with.

I also highly recommend setting up a Nitrogen tank/guages with a no loss chuck so you can get your pressures dialed in after you get the shocks installed. It really does make a difference to me. Some of my pressures were too low after my rebuild and after I got them right, shocks performed a lot better.

You might want to take a hard look at other UCA options as well if you plan to beat the crap out your truck as hard as I do. The desert is unforgiving out there lol.

Ben has a series of videos he has put out and has a very good hands on approach to getting you dialed into your needs. I learned how to rebuild my Kings watching his video. He will call you personally if you want to get the full diagnosis into your build. Good Luck!!

He also put out a tutorial site for your reading and reference studies as well.
