Starting 3 weeks off, so it's Paint day on the frame and welded bits.
Decided to mock the seats up while the paint is drying on the frame.
Found a method on YT where you cut off the feet of the oem seats, and build your brackets off of them. Pretty sure I can use the Corbeau's Mustang bracket that they came with.
Looking to save the $300+ for the 4Runner brackets that they sell for their seats.
Once I have the frames built and I no longer need to mock the seats up, I'll dye them black.
Debating on how to proceed w the occupant weight sensors for the SRS. Splicing a resistor into the circuit is the easiest, but not necessarily the safest.
Won't need the 5 point harness for the hwy, so Im gonna retain the shoulder harness for now, and put the 5* in when I go offroad.

The Corbeau sliders are mounted to the seat inserts w 5/16" allen heads, and then somebody mounted them to the frame w some weak little 1/4" kaka.
Now we have 5/16" grade 8 for those fasteners.

DK +3.5 Mock up #99
Well it's on the ground for a few hrs. Checking ride height and a couple other things. Because there is not much spring preload, I was able to find a way to adjust the C/O while still on the vehicle.
Still need the front drive shaft and brakes installed w dozens of little oddball things also. (MC cam gussets need zerk fitting clearance on the front 2 tabs).
Need to recheck all hardware and torque it down.
Gonna leave the fenders off for awhile until I do some shake down tests.
Just hoping I accounted for all clearance issues......

Getting exciting man! Can't wait to see this thing in action. It's amazing that it's possible to tuck away a dual shock setup upfront on these things. Looks damn good.

Seat Swap
The driver seat needs another coat of dye I think.
I've been slowly getting these brackets built. Still using the Mustang bracket for the passenger side as well. It will be close to the driver seat in height and pitch.
Full set of seats for sale cheap.
During the cooler mornings I've been trying to sort out this suspension. But when the Sun starts getting overhead, I mostly do all my cutting and grinding on the work bench in the garage w the shade. So that's when I been working on the brackets.
Laying on a hot driveway in 95* heat ain't much fun. My farmer tan is looking good though.
Zerk fittings are pissin me off. I think I have to take both sides back apart. Then remove the LCAs to clearance the cam gussets properly.
I'm gonna try and use a die grinder and a rasp to see if I can hollow out enough for the zerks to clear, before I tear it all back down...AGAIN.

Brake day
Always liked the look of new calipers and rotors.
OEM 5th gen calipers and dust shields.
R1 Concepts pads and rotors.
DK has a brake line system that requires a little forethought, which I didn't, so I'm sorting that out today.
Got the Zerk fittings figured out.
Had to cut a notch in the MC front cam gusset. I rotated the cams back and forth, and the zerk hitting would definitely have affected the alignment process.
Its not ideal but it works.

I at least got Pearl down off the jack stands and drivable before I had to leave for 2.5 weeks.
Hertz gave me the choice of a Tesla or a Gladiator (43k miles).
Obvious choice for me.
I can't say I dislike it, but I could never own it because of leg room. Fully adjusted seat has my knees a little over 2" off the dash lol.
Here in NJ its been all hwy, and once I got used to it (8 speed trans), I have to say I'm having fun with it.
Its got good pep but still has a little E-throttle lag.
But, If you've ever been to Jersey, there is alot of on/off ramps, and I been pushing this thing hard into the turns. I never thought it would handle as good as it does. The Fox susp is pretty well tuned.
Would love to hit a trail or two, although doubtful in north NJ. I have hopped a couple curbs....

It's just an ugly vehicle IMO. I have seen some on bigger wheels and an enclosed rear that do look better, but stock ... uggh.

in a stock form its probably one of the more uglier rigs on the road lol. A little lift and some 37's go a long way with those. I don't think I would ever own one.. just because it's not really a jeep or a truck, therefore it must do both only somewhat OK.. you either get a jeep or you get a truck.. lol.
Glad to see Pearl off the stands and under its own power man! Definitely have made some good progress over the past few months.
