Skid protection

Hey guys and girls I own a fourth GEN 4runner and I am looking at doing some underbody skid protection . Curious to see what your guys thoughts are on order of priority . I was thinking 1 a arm skid
2 lower link skid
3 rear did skid
4 gas tank

I do moderate wheeling and would love any input .
Thanks

So many variables.

If it's not your primary vehicle, and you have, coin, kit that bit** out.

If you have to drive it... dial it back.

Best answer, don't be stupid where you take it, and yes, gas tank seems important.

Fuel tank has a skid already, I'd let that donits thing for now if money is an issue. I replaced my front skid first because it was severely rusted. I plan on working my way back from there and then the fuel tank. Next on the list is trans and transfer skid. Then maybe fj toyman lower shock mount armor.

If you are on a budget my order would be...

1.) Lower link armor and transmission/transfer case skid. (Lower link mounts get shredded on rocks)
2.) Front/ gas skid once you mangle the stock ones.

Lower control arm and rear diff skids seem pointless to me

Front skid as well as the gas tank skid are made out of sheet metal...well basically all the stock stuff is good for is splash/gravel shield.
They do not like rocks at all. They are not really skid plates.

The running boards will get beat if you wheel at all...Sliders are great insurance.

You can ding the rear LCA links at the frame... but it takes big rocks.

RCI is doing a sale right now if anyone is interested -18% (TAX18), if you spend over $600 which would be the front skid, middle, and transfer case skid.

ive been running budbuilt kit with all pro lower link guards, fjtoyman lower shock skids and stock gas tank skid.. all coated in herculiner bedliner.. im smashed the hell out of it.. they still come on and off. I did have to retap and upgrade the mounting hardware once after a few years.

I have BAMF lca skids waiting to go on. more for looks then function.

+1
Ditch the damage magnets that are stock running boards and invest in some good sliders... then cover up the un-/under-protected bits.
